Im pro-weed, but im just wondering why the feds aren't storming into california and shutting down the medical marijuana stores if it is illegal by the federal law.

The short answer is because they have better things to do with their resources. The federal government usually overlooks medical marijuana users in states where it's legal because they're not really contributing to the "war on drugs." Most users grow their own or buy it from licensed growers (which is what they have to do for it to be legal under state law) so they're not supporting the Latin American drug gangs or adding to violent crime rates or anything that federal law enforcement is really concerned about. They have bigger problems than a couple hundred thousand medical marijuana users in California, so they leave them alone, even though they would legally be allowed to shut them down. |
