Are you For or Against getting married ONLY because you are pregnant?

i would be against it, because if your only getting married because of the baby, it won't work. i was 17 when i married my first husband, although we did love each other we probably would not have married had it not been for the baby. he wasn't mature, neither was i. we were both from different back grounds, and he was too young to stay committed and cheated frequently. it ended, and he was never there financially or emotionally for my daughter. when a person is young they think there in love, and if the boy isn't mature having a child is just going to add to the problems already there.

I'm talking from experience, I married my girlfriend back in 1985 because she was pregnant. We had be dating for about two years prior and we both knew this is what we wanted. We were separated in1990 and then the divorced in 1993 after she had an affair with my best friend of 11 years. It was a nightmare to say the least, and even harder for my son who is now 23 years old and has health problems related to all of the past problems. Between the child support, lies, deceit and so forth, it is amazing that everything turned out as good as it did. It took me until 1998, I moved to another state, and found the right lady to marry too be happy again. my first marriage was a disaster to say the least, and even worse for my son. I don't know if it is the same for others, but most of the people I know have all told me the same type of situations happened to them in similar ways.
If you decide to get married because of being pregnant, you better be sure of everything that is in front of you......oh and by the way I was 18 at the time and she had just turned 18. Both of us too young to understand what we were in store for, and it destroyed our relationship and our friendship. It has taken a very long time for us to even speak to each other again, and then it is strained. Think hard about this type of situation. God bless and good luck.

Marriage is a major commitment and one that is increasingly viewed as being something that can be easily dissolved if one or both parties are not happy. I believe it is not a good idea to get married just because you are pregnant. The fact is that many people get married once they're pregnant simply because it's what society expects of them. Being pregnant if your not planning it is an extremely stressful situation. Add the stress of being a newlywed and you are destined for disaster. Marriage is very expensive and so is having a baby. Factor in the cost of divorce and it seems self evident that it may not be the best idea for someone who didn't plan on getting pregnant in the first place.

I'm against because it is my situation. I got married b/c I got pregnant, and b/c I'm Asian. To an Asian, been pregnant and not marry is one horrible thing that will stick with out the whole life. People who look down on you, even family member. So we got married with the scariest wedding day that I hope would never happen again in my life. Now here I'm filing Child Support, and Custody. My ex is not physical, financially, and mentally really to have a family. He cheated, lied, and irresponsible for everything around him. So to get my life back...I decided to end this marry right after the 4th time (and the last) he packed up and leaved me with his baby. If we could go back in time, I wish that I would never met this man in my life.

I'm against it because it almost never works out. I have a friend that got married because she was in love with the father of her child but he got married just for the baby. It is way too easy to get married for how hard it is to get divorced. She's been going through this divorce for well over a year and their kid is only three years old. I feel sorry for their little girl because, although she isn't completely aware of her parents divorce, she will be affected in the long run because marriage solely based on pregnancy is a recipe for disaster.

I believe you should only get married for love, not because of being pregnant. I was pregnant only when I was married, but divorced within 2 years of each child being born. In all honesty, I thank god I never had to choose. I am a newlywed at age 46 and my new husband and I love each others girls who all live with us.

I dont believe pregnancy means you should get married. If its one night stand or a fling... The two people may not be compatible at all.
