I divorced my first husband because of his adultery after 22 years of marriage. I was on my own with 4 children for 3 years and then met a wonderful man. He was also divorced due to his wife's adultery. We have been married for 4 years now and have a wonderful relationship, He is everything my first husband was not. Obviously all relationships need to be worked at but because of our past experiences we work harder to make our marriage successful as it is.

My 1st husband was a dog!! He was cruel, cheated, and no good!! My marriage lasted 3 years, half of which, he spent inside!! I thought I'd just get on with my life and look after my kids alone. About 6 months after we split up, I met an old flame, we started to go out, he'd never married but had a son the same age as my daughter, I'd known him since I was 13, and never knew how wonderful he was!! That was 20 years ago!! We only got married inn 2006, but I love him more now than I ever did, so if you doubt you can be happy again, don't!! We do everything together, and make time for each other, maybe if I'd been sure the 1st time,or 2nd or 3rd...... he asked me to marry him I'd have did it sooner, and I wish I had, but I let my 1st experience take over. But I'm happy now, and my kids all look up to him, my daughter wants him to walk her down the aisle, not her father!! Ture love is out there!! xx

Gray Rock has issues. If you can't make a 2nd marriage last, you need to do some soul searching and figure out why everyone that you hook up with can't stand to be around you.
Most likely, if you decide to be selfless and you serve your spouse and give 100% to the marriage and expect nothing, but be happy with anything, you will be able to have a happy first marriage.
People in this nation need to stop being so selfish and work on loving and serving each other in a marriage. IT ISN"T ABOUT YOU! It is about them. (the spouse)
Now obviously both parties have to do the same thing. It can't be one sided.

Yes, I'm divorced and have been married now for almost 17 years. Takes a lot of work and compromise. Long term happy relationships are very hard!

Divorce is an ugly beast that stands waiting over your should to pouce upon you, once again...when you least expect it.

The divorce stats are scary, and it happens ALL the time.

In my sheltered life I have met so many divorced people who have gone onto bigger and better things.

I guess you can add widowed people to that list, too.

Absolutely. My second marriage (of nine years) is a true marriage. We are friends and lovers and hopelessly happy together. My first marriage was like brother & sister friendly enough but I didn't know what I was missing.

Yes, we just celebrated our 15 year anniversary. I learned from my first marriage how to be quiet and say ok you are right.

it can take a real long time to settle down and be happy with someone else, because that wont happen unless you have no feelings for your ex.
Just stay on your own for a while to gain back independance and date when the time feels right.

Once you divorce you will end up divorcing your next partners. That is why marriage is not to be taken for granted. A marriage is a lifetime commitment until death. When you marry there is only one and only one time. Divorce is not acceptable. So whatever problems which had happened it should be fixed and not resort to divorce as an escape path.
