Busy-body or "just helping"?

There was an incident at my stepson's baseball game. An older, bigger boy knocked him down instead of sliding into home plate.

My husband got upset and questioned the umpire. Tthe other boys dad got involved and wanted to "take it elsewhere"

The other boys dad and the umpire are President and Vice President of the the ball league. They know my husband has been coaching the teenagers so a few days later at a game my husband wasn't attending, they asked my hubby's ex wife for all his personal info-- SSN, Address DOB etc... information they took when he started coaching. As soon as my husband drops off the kids at her house she comes running out to tell him that they asked her for his info and she gave it to them.

I've been with my husband for three years. During that time the X has often accused him and myself of being "abusive" toward the children.
He/We make the kids pick up after themselves and do chores at our house.... at their mom's house they have cleaning people and no other responsibilities other than homework.

I think the X had something to do with the whole do a background check thing....no one's that dumb. I think she jumped right on that wagon hoping to perpetuate the "abusive" thing and teach him a good lesson.

When my husband found out he asked her not to give out his information..she said she did it to "help out"

Why didn't she just tell them to get it from my husband? ...Or from the paperwork they already have? Seems weird to me. They've been divorced for almost 5 years what makes her think she's entitled to give out his info like that?

Other opinions would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

That is something she had no right to divulge, about her ex's personal information, and those who asked her for it, shouldn't have gone to her in the first place. That's unethical as well. They were being underhanded in their approach. If they have a problem with your husband, he's the one they should have talked to. And why, did they have to ask his ex wife, when they already have that information.
They were looking for dirt or a wedge to use against your husband, and who better than an ex wife, who may still be carrying a grudge against him.
She's lying through her teeth, when she says, she was just helping out. Helping out whom. certainly not her ex husband. She was helping those, who, it seems were intent on getting at your husband.
What she did, was out of spite and nothing else.

what the ex wife did is against the privacy act. why does she even have his personal information? she can be sued for giving out his personal information, invasion of privacy. what if someone steals his identity? argh. what a stupid beatch. good thing she is an ex

Same reason those small minded and petty men bothered to get all arsy over such a tiny incident. They control the territory and dont want any trespassers. She obviously subscribes to the same philosophy. Only in America!

It's called being passive-aggressive.

It is against the law for her to give out that information, just like it's against the law to run a background check without a individual's permission. He may have given them that information when he started coaching, and they may have run a background check then, but that has nothing to do with now, nothing to do with his ex-wife, and should not be used in any way as "backlash" against your husband because he questioned the umpire. If you really want to know, call the police station and ask them. They'll answer your questions and let you know what your rights are, if you want to pursue that kind of course of action.

In my opinion, no one has the right to give this information out to other people for any reason. Even if she honestly thought she was just helping. If they already had the information, why did they need it again, I missed that?

Anyway, if you can't get this kind of information directly from the source, then you have no right to it, and she and the coaches should be called out for that.

Thats his personal information. She wasn't allowed to give that out without his consent. Your right all she was able to say was let me ask my ex husband if I can give that information to you, or this is at least a number to contact him. The only way she could give out that information is if he gave her legal rights to. If he didn't give her legal rights then you could sue her. That will teach her a lesson.

Sounds fishy...I bet Child Protective Services shows up on your doorstep. If there's nothing to hide, you will be fine. I'd be pissed at her though for giving out that info.

Okay...SHE IS WRONG WRONG WRONG. Why she gave him his personal information is BEYOND me. I'd be so pissed off, I'd want to strangle her! This is unreal! For one thing she is NOT his wife anymore. You are. Another thing...these clowns are asking his ex-wife for his social security number? And she gives it to them???? I'd have words with her AND with them. She's a f'ing moron.
