You would have to prove that the person said it with malice. You would have to prove that the person knew it wasn't true, but if it was true, you can't do anything about it. Most importantly you would need to show how it affected or if it cost you anything. You're talking about "Slander" here. A person is only guilty if they had the intentions of ruining you based on lies. Now, it has been 5 years so it would depend on your state. The type of lawsuit would be slander. |

its probably way too late to sue, and when u sue u have to prover that u were harmed and u have to prove what they said wasn't true. just something to clog up our court system. |
