bahahahahaha!! That's funny, stop listening to those flakes. If you want him/her to never trust you EVER, then go for it. |

I will not even have the guts to think of trying to have an affair. |

I don't know how it can help. Affair means infidelity. Infidelity means you are no longer committed. How can it possibly help? Sounds like a scapegoat excuse to me. |

i believe if the cheater is caught and admits is was wrong and discusses why they cheated then work can begin to repair the marriage........i do not believe dr.phil meant to go out and have an affair!! |

An affair sometimes makes people realize just how good they've got it with their spouse. And leaving one's marriage for a worse relationship with another partner makes no sense. |

Folks who have come to appreciate their marriage more after an affair report having discovered that the grass is not greener on the other side of the fence.
Affairs are costly, and divorces are costlier. Affairs are angst producing. The thrill of the hunt wears off in short order, and anxiety over shadows the excitement. By definition, affairs are "secret", but keeping such secrets is a full time job that rarely meets with success.
As the saying goes, shopping for and buying the car may be exciting, but the payments may be your ruin! |

NO...DR. Phil is full of it (no shock, after all, he is a 300 pound slob who actually sold a diet book lol). In my opinion, people ought to adopt a zero tolerence policy for cheating. The first time=divorce. Period. No bs, no weaselling, regardless of gender, etc. Zero tolerence for that sh*t. |

how come? it all will get more confusing! |

No. Extra marital affair can not save the marriage. |

I think you misinterpreted what DR.Phil meant..He meant if you are in an affair and both partners get therapy you can work thru issues that led to the breakdown of the marriage. He didnt mean go have an affair to make your marriage better. Anyone who watches his shows knows he would never advocate having an affair.. |

Looks like you're looking for an excuse to cheat. Just go do it and dont be looking to blame anyone but yourself. |
|

|
Well, what he meant I'm sure is the fact that you don't appreciate what you have, until you're about to lose it!
Also, some people don't want to divorce and take that as the easy option, until they work out exactly what they want.
I'm certainly not going to advise you to go and cheat on your partner just because that might give them a wake up call, as it might just be the very end of your relationship!!!
Communication is still the best key to a successful relationship!!! |

i really dont see how cheating can help |

Dr Phil does not support or encourage for someone to go out and have an affair.
What he means is that eyes are opened an communication begins to flow to repair a marriage once an affair takes place. |

I don't understand how losing all faith and trust in the person you married can SAVE your marriage.
Maybe he meant that, when a spouse has an affair, that the one who has been cheated ON sees the "other person" as competition, and steps up their game a little bit, to try and win their spouse back.
I wouldn't want to remain with someone that I couldn't trust. |

Wouldn't think so. The visual of my husband pronging another lady, or if it were his visual, of some guy doing that to me would feel like betrayal for each of us, and I suspect, we are the norm. Marriage assume exclusivity. Crowded marriages usually don't last, or aren't really marriages.... |

It would just add another complication that you would have to deal with. Sort out the marriage and if that can't be saved, then have the affair. |

Don't try to rationalize that it's OK for you to have an affair. It's not OK. You misinterpreted Dr. Phil's stance.
You cannot have a great marriage without trust. You cannot trust the untrustworthy people who have an affair. |

I don't watch doctor Phil, but I know for real that an affair DEFINTILEY can't save a marriage. I mean, it could possibly save your marriage from getting any worse than it can be (wahtever reason that is is beyond me) by seeing that two people were not meant to be married at all. You need trust, which goes a long way. My parents are divorced mainly b/c of an affair, I can tell you it defintiley didn't save their marriage! |

I think you may have misunderstood him.. you know some times when someone says something. you really do not hear what they are saying..only parts of it...kinda of like listening to the end of the conversation.. i have often heard someone say something.. only later to learn the the way i heard it was not the was they intended me to hear it |

the only way i could see it saving a marriage is if u really loved that person, had a wonderful marriage, and it hadn't happened before, and your spouse was sorry it would definitely be a wake up call for u but not all are forgiving so it could go either way. if i had a husband i loved, and he cheated, and i loved him and i realized i shared the blame in it, it would make me try harder to make the marriage work, and providing the husband wanted to come home he might try harder to work on things. but it doesn't always end like that most times its the end. |

An affair will only make your marriage worse. Their would be no trust, only hurt feelings and broken hearts. |

Nope. In no way will an affair save a marriage. It will leave a trail of hurt and devastation forever to all involved. |

No, untrue. Cheating destroys trust absolutely. |
