You sure can.
Go to your local abuse prevention council (you'll find the number in the emergency help section of your phone book).
They will help you get the papers filed.
In the meantime....get out of there & don't go back. Men who hit women do not change for the better. |

You need to contact the police and file a report. The police will help you and give you contact names for assistance. |

Yes , but it won't help if you live together. You need to fill out a police report. See a counselor for domestic violence. Take steps right away because it will just keep going on. |

I am more then sure you can and that you should right away, girl I don't know what are you waiting for, no guy has the right to hit a girl no matter the situation, go to your friends' house or to your family. I bet you can do so much better then a guy that hits you. DO NOT LET HIM OR ANY GUY ABUSE OF YOU. |

Each state has their own laws governing domestic violence. In NJ you would be able to go to the county court and potition for a restraining order. If you feel threatened you should pursue whatever means are available to keep yourself safe. |

Yes. It's a human right to feel safe and you have evidence, although having the restraining order would kind of stop you being his partner, but who wants someone abusive really? |

Yes, speak to your solicitor asap. |
|

Heck yeah. You don't have to have bruises to get a restraining order on someone. All you need is to feel threatened or like you are in danger in that person's presence which you obviously are. Get a restraining order ASAP then pack up your stuff and move. Mail him the divorce papers. The next time you should see him should be in a court with a judge finalizing your divorce. If you don't get a restraining order, bruises will be the least of your problem. |
|

Is that your final answer?
|
Yes, and please do so. Even if you didnt have bruises, you can still report him to the authorities. He needs to get help, and you need to get away from him. May God bless you. |
|

Jackie
 |
Oh yes, and I'd recommend you taking pictures of your bruises as evidence, and remember that No One has the right to treat you like thatm you're a wondrful person that deserves so much better :-)
Get help and dump the s.o.b.!! |

girl you must be crazy call the po po(not really)get a layer and beat him until he's only a puddle(and get a restraining order while ur at it) |

It shouldn't matter when he hit you. If you have evidence, which are your bruises, you can definately call the police and get a restraining order. You should also get a divorce too. |
|

Yes. Take pictures of the bruises and any damage done to the house. Keep a journal of any date and incidences. Call the police and file a report every time. Always write down what happened, get witnesses to as much as possible and take pictures. You need this documentation
Contact your local abused women's shelter and they will give you other ideas, counseling, assistance and even help with the restraining order.
Good Luck! |

Why on earth did you wait? The cops might want to know why you waited. You should go right away anyways, right away is always best.
Photograph yourself too. |
|

wrkey
 |
yep, get an attorney, call the police, file for divorce.
I'm making the assumption you two are not still living together. If you are, then no you can't get a restraining order but you can press charges for battery. Which I highly suggest you do!
Good luck! |

First go to the police, tell them what happened, they will take pictures of yr bruises. You may have to go to the doctors to get yrself checked out, then the police may get you to put a restraining order out on yr husband! |
|

Samantha
 |
yes you can!!! you dont even need bruises. You should also go to counseling. a healthy relationship never has any hitting, punching, shoving, or anything involving invading your personal space. 9 out of 10 times this person will never change. |
