Can second cousins get married, yes or no and why not? They are legalizing gay marriages?

All states in America permit you to marry a second cousin. It is illegal in 31 states to marry your first cousin, and legal in 19 states as well as the District of Columbia. There has been no proven genetic issues with marrying a second cousin, though offspring produced by first cousins often have some minor complications.

I think it depends on the state you live in but in my state I think you have to be 5th or further.

Oklahoma prohibited first and second cousin marriages until 1969! It was the last US state to prohibit second cousin marriages. Some of our state laws are so absurd, that they are almost entertaining. I think I will put together a list of absurd state laws for this site, and put the prohibition of cousin marriages at the top of the list. It should be amusing...

Not in the US, and most other countries. This is because the DNA of second and even third cousins is close enough that it can cause inbreeding and severe medical issues in the children this couple would have. The only exception is if they are over 65 years old, or can prove that one of them cannot create a child due to a health condition. Cousins and other relatives can't marry ONLY because of the possibility of inbred children.

Yes I believe even first cousins can get married. You just can't marry your sibling, parent, grandparent, or aunt or uncle.

Marriage is a life long commitment between A MAN AND A WOMAN not TWO of the SAME!!!! No gay marriages are not legal everywhere except for crazy states like Cali and i think the UK....
