Can two people stay happily together forever?

staying together - predominantely happy over time -- yes? 100% happy all the time? No.. Staying together and making the relationship work is a choice.. if two people committ - and I mean by their actions and words - not just a piece of paper or assumptions.. then it can work..

being happy is also a choice...

so is forever...

I met my husband in ninth grade. We married right out of high school. This June it will be our 35th wedding anniversary. We have had our problems, but nothing could separate us. Communication is our secret. I love him more now than I ever though possible. He is also my best friend.

So yes, it is possible for two people to stay together forever. It just takes determination. All relationships need are two partners willing to put the effort into their marriage.~~

Two people can stay happily together forever. My grandparents celebrated their 50th anniversary (several years ago). 6 months after the anniversary my grandfather died, 6months later my grandmother died. So yea, their marriage lasted till death to us part and as far as I know they were happy. Of course when they died, I was 10. So from 10 and under all I really seen was them being sickly, but on their good days, they seem happy. Happy with each other, happy with the life they lead.

My parents and inlaws have been married for more then 30yrs. They are happy. I have been with my husband for 11yrs. We are also happy and I can see us being happy together forever.

You can't be scared of the What Ifs. You can't shy away from love because you are scared you may not experiance the happily together forever. Live life. Love.

I think it is possible maybe slim to none. But there are people that still believe in holy matrimony and till death do us part. My grandparents were married for 76 years and died together. My parents have been married for 34 years and still going strong. Everyone has ups and down the good part about it is if you are willing to keep on keeping on after the fight is over with.

You have to always remember that marriage is work. You can't expect to be happy all of the time. It takes communication. If you really love each other you can overcome almost anything.

Some couples do stay together and in love for their entire married lives. Most people now days are too into what they want and not so much about doing for those they love. It is give and take. But it has to be both ways. So many relationships end in separations or divorce because the one who is giving gets tired of doing it all.

When the time comes to finally decide who will be your life mate, choose wisely. Find someone with like interests, joys and dreams. Someone who is not afraid to plan those dreams and goals with you. Take you time and don't fall for the first good looking fellow that sweeps you off your feet. Make sure he's worth keeping before you say yes.

WOW, i totally understand what you are talking about. i feel the EXACT same way. I am so scared. i just want to be happy with someone and have it always be that way. good luck and i hope it works out for you. just remember, honesty is the key in any relationship.

It really just depends. I know some couples who have been together since high school and they are still totally in love. (I'm 29). But, I also have some friends that always break-up with their boyfriend/girlfriend. It's weird, but I think that finding someone you can laugh with everyday helps. The couples I know that have lasted so long, always laugh. My husband and I make each other laugh everyday and our relationship is about 95% perfect. :) I say 95% because of course nothing is perfect. We do have our arguments, but we never think that one is going to break up with the other.

Give it time, you will find someone like that in your life. Don't give up on it. :)

I think it's a lot of hard work but I think it can work. My best examples are my grandparents. They both come from divorced families but they'll be celebrating their 67th wedding anniversary this year.

WOw for a teenager you sure are a deep thinker.. I really hope there is a happily ever after. I am 38 and have been divorced. I think there is someone for everyone. You just have to be real careful not to go after someone for the sake of being married.

You can't think like that or it won't work out for you and whom ever your with. If he leaves you or cheats on you it hurts yes and your heart is broken but that's how we learn. You bounce back and you move on until someone else comes into your life and you fall deeply in love again. I have been married now 30 years to a man who cheated on me over 12 years ago. I gave him a chance to prove his love and he hasn't let me down he became a better person after making a horrible mistake. I learned never take someone for granted and he learned what you have at home you love and cherish and all will be good.

The answer is YES. Of course two people can stay happily together forever. Stop being so cynical people! Not that it doesn't take work, it does. It takes work, commitment, trust, and God. Loving each other is a choice that you make. Some days you won't feel it, some days you'll be overflowing with it. Real love is choosing to love someone even though you just got into a fight where you threw plates at each other's heads (ha). No, but really...please don't think that a couple couldn't stay together forever. Every couple is different, every personality is different but I do think it's possible.

We're going to a 40th wedding anniversary celebration this saturday. This couple have raised 3 children together, are always nice to each other and genuinely seem to not only love each other but like each other. It happens.

They absolutely can. I have relatives who've celebrated sixty years together. I have neighbors who've done so, too. Look, there is NO SUCH THING as a perfect marriage. People do NOT "live happily ever after" as in the fairy tales. Adults recognize this and resolve, before they get married, that they will each put a hundred and ten percent into the marriage. Rough spots can be survived. When you both realize that, and can be adult enough to accept that, then maybe you'll be ready for marriage.
