Yes, but your wife will probably have a lawyer and if you are representing yourself you had better know the law and all the loopholes involved like the lawyers and judges do. It is not recommended that you try it. Lawyers know exactly what to say in court and what the judges want to hear. They have been to court hundreds of times and know the routine.

Try and keep your marriage together until you can come up with a very good plan. Make sure you have a very good place to live and raise children, that you have a very good job that pays well and hire the best family law lawyer you can find. You would be best to seek joint custody or residential custody. This way there won't be any child support payments that you may have to make. Some states child support is at a very high rate of $1000 per child. If you have residential custody your wife could be ordered to pay you support and the other way around if your wife has custody, then you pay the support. If you have joint custody you both may be ordered to pay each other support unless you both decide you don't want that. If you live in different states only one of you can have residential custody. Joint custody only works if you are both living pretty close to each other.

Again, don't go into a courtroom without a lawyer especially if your wife has one. You are sure to lose. The judges also look at that and almost always side with the person who has a lawyer or the one with the better lawyer of you both. Some judges can be fair but others will have a favorite right when court first starts. Remember, these lawyers and judges almost always know each other and work together. Some are even good friends out of court.

Not very well. Judges don't like it if you don't know all that lawyer lingo when you speak! Besides that, the judge looks at it as you're taking money away from one of his lawyer buddies, by representing yourself! I know this from my past experience of representing myself!

Yes..if you have no property or children involved...No child support or Alimony requested...if you do have those things such as a home or children, you had better have an Attorney to represent your best interests...

yes, but you have to be smarter than your wife.

Lawyers don't care too much about cases like this because they don't make that much money. Most of the time the lawyer is reviewing the case with you while you are sitting in the lobby waiting for the judge.

Talk to women that you trust and get their advice on what to do...talking about divorced women with children.

Depending on the state you live in, most divorces are pretty standard.

You can, but I wouldn't recommend it unless you have some background in law. I went through my divorce without a lawyer and tried to keep things as amicable as possible and wound up getting screwed over royally.

Technically yes - but I wouldn't advise it.
