Chances of getting custody of my children?

I am a single father. I have 2 children by someone who is very unfit.She has 3 fathers to her 5 children. She has an extensive criminal background and every time that I have called DCFS it was always unfounded. Well 2 weeks ago her boyfriend and her along with children go to the mall. She and her boyfriend decide to steal clothes. Then to top it off she gives my child something to steal also. She is on probation from previous theft also. I am trying to get my kids away from her. I have contacted numerous probono lawyers but have not gotten anywhere. If anyone could lead me in some direction I would appreciate it.

Get an attorney. Request an ex-parte (sp?) hearing. That means it's an "emergency" custody hearing. If her behavior is that bad, it's likely the judge will see that you are the better parent. I wish you luck. Your children deserve much better than what they're getting.

Contact your state bar association. They can refer you to agencies, who can give you the names of lawyers. See if your state has a law demanding pro bono cases be done, and if so, what lawyers haven't met their quota. And advertise at a nearby law school for a senior student who wants to make some extra money. Custody cases are actually pretty straight forward, so a senior should be able to give sound advice for a nominal fee.
