Okay so i am now four months now.. the babys father and i aren't together.. we used to live together not legally married.. last time we talked we got into a huge argument over this.. He's in the military, and says he is gonna wants half custody of the child.. but i dont want that.. we had a verbal agreement when we found out we were expecting and we separated that he would be able to visit and take the child out anytime he wanted.. so now he's changed his mind.. he's deploying soon after the baby is born and i want to have everything settle before he deploys.. can he get partial custody even if i dont want it? He's got previous kids and doesn't care for them? Being in the Military and before i left him i found out he was selling drugs and well he's always had a drinking and partying problem.. since he is military he will be stationed in different cities and maybe even countries.. it worries me.. he says that before he deploys he's going to marry the first woman he meets, how am i supposed to trust my baby.. i just can't do that.. i want to be full time mommy.. what do you think that chances are the court gives him partial custody? He wants to have the baby every six months.. what kind of mother would settle to just lending out their child for half a year?? any help and advice.. past experiences would be very much appreciated.. I am in texas.. any good lawyers..? Thank You.

i dont care much if i get child support.. i and i am not against him seeing the baby at all.. he's welcome to see the baby any time he wants.. i just dont think its right the baby has to be re locating and seeing one parent every six months or so.. but thanks for your advice so far.

He may get joint legal custody, meaning he has a right to be involved in all major decisions concerning the child.
He will not be given joint physical custody. Marrying the first women he sees will mean nothing. A judge will not make you give your child to some unknown woman for six months.
He is probably hoping that with joint custody he won't have to pay child support.
You need to go to court for custody as soon as the child is born. If you list him on the birth certificate as the father and do not have court ordered custody, he has every right to take the child and keep it until the court orders custody. |

I highly doubt any court would order joint custody that gives an infant to a father for 6 months at a time. But if dad wants to be involved, let him just as long as he is responsible with your unborn child's safety and welfare. But since your just pregnant now, you have time to figure this out. Good luck.

You don't even sound mature enough to be having a baby. NOBODY wants to "lend" their child out to the other parent, but that's what must happen when you have two parents that aren't together. You're just going to have to deal with the fact that you can't control him or your child when the child is with him. His personal life may not have anything to do with how good of a father he can be, and no one will care about your jealousy if he decides to marry someone else.
However, with him being in the military, he's not going to get joint custody, but he will get firm visitation. He knows this already if he has other kids - he's just saying these things to scare you.
I really don't believe you have anything to worry about as far as him getting actual custody. Please don't be a vindictive, controlling mother that hangs the child over someone else's head. You're only going to hurt your child! |

See a good lawyer now before the child is born. My ex kidnapped my children because he was a selfish ,controlling person who cared nothing for the children. Only for what leverage they could give him. Tell your lawyer EVERYTHING about this man so you can be fully prepared in court. |

Spring for a good lawyer. It will be worth it. My son didn't have the money and got screwed hard. I doubt a military father would be able to get half custody. Good luck. |
