Child support agreement help!?

My ex and I have a daughter together, we are in the process of making a child support agreement. All has been going fine until the part where she is with me and with him. We both work full time days and she is in pre school duringg the day, which is close to both of our houses.

He would like a week (sunday to sunday) with him and then for her to have a week ( sunday to sunday) with me. I think that is way too much time for her to be away from me. Am I stupid for thinking that a week is too long for a child in pre school to be away from her mother? Can anyone else think of a better schedule?

A week is too long for a child to be away from either parent. Get with the times, a father is just as important as a mother.

If you live in the same city, and are very close, and you'll both be able to be equidistant from your child's school, extra curriculars extra then it is a great opportunity to have the schedule go as follows:

Week 1 Child is with you Mon, Tue, Fri, Sat, Sun and is with Dad Wed, Thu

Week 2 Child is with you Wed, Thu, and is with Dad Mon, Tue, Fri, Sat, Sun

Grow Up!!!
Please... I wish (for my child's sake) my child had the opportunity to have a chance to spend equal time---but bio-dad had the papers drawn up giving me sole custody--which was for the best I guess... He said he just wasn't ready for the responsibility... Any way to answer your question a child is perfectly capable of spending a week here and a week there. No matter what the arrangement there will always be a period of adjustment and then it becomes routine... Your child will thank you later in life for not making her dad have less time with her.

that is way too confusing for a child that age just offer him fri -mon tht will give her something to look forward to

A child needs their mother. Imo, he should have every other weekend, split holidays, and the extra time is to be agreed upon. The child needs more stability than that. You both need to consider what is in the best interest for the child not yourselves. (not saying your being selfish bty, but it's easy to do and not realize it) God bless.

stuck in california
i have a friend that does Sun-wed with dad and thurs-sat with mom or vice versa

Confused
Since your child is still young, she does need the mother more than the father. If you guys are willing to compramise, then tell him that he can get one full week a month. If that is too much for you still, then tell him he can have one full week every two months. If the father is a good father, then one week away from you probably wont hurt her and you guys obviously live close to eachother. So if something happens, either parent can be right there.

I think a week here and a week there is going to be hard for her to adjust. My ex gets the kids every other weekend and we swap holidays. It works for us but everyone is different. Yes she is too little to be away for so long..

You both can't have Sunday to Sunday. You are wrong. Why can't he have her for a week? You're being selfish. Be glad that he's stepping up to the plate. I raised two girls 2 and 8 when their mother was killed and they turned out great. Even if I do say so myself. I say try the Saturday to Sunday routine for a while and see how it goes. You two can always modify it at a latter date depending on whats going on in your lives. There may be times when you can switch weeks because one or the is going on vacation. Don't panic until you give it a chance.

A child needs a base that they can call "home". I think that the psychologist and psychiatrist over the years have figured out that if a child has to endure a divorce then they need to be granted custody to one parent and have weekend and holiday visits with the other. They should only have one house to call home though. It's too stressful on the child to be moved back and forth. It's not just my opinion, it's been studied very thorough as to what is best in childhood. The child will never feel secure going back and forth.

no way, I have never agreed to the week on, week off thing. that schedule is way too eratic for a young child, or any child for that matter. I would offer every other weekend and 1 afternoon/evening during the week. period.
