Considering divorce to go back to ex......?

Five years ago my ex husband was deported from the US. I refused to move to Mexico; he was barred from the US for ten years. Before this happened we were religious and that helped us through hard times. He had his faults, but when he was doing well and going to Church, he was a wonderful husband. After our separation we both stopped going to church, starting using drugs and drinking. We also moved on to new relationships. I have been with my current husband for 4 years now and the whole time I have not been certain that I am "supposed" to be with him. I have stopped doing the things I did before and have returned to church and so has my ex husband. My current husband is not religious at all and often makes mean comments about me going to church or reading the bible. He drinks heavily and uses drugs recreationally. He is verbally abusive and can be mean to my oldest daughter because she does not talk to him due to his behavior. I work full time and I go to school, so my life is a bit easier with his financial help, but I don't know if it's worth it. On the other hand, while I feel that my ex husband is a better father and husband, he is in Mexico, unemployed and cannot return to the US for 5 more years. There is no upside. I have considered being alone, but like I mentioned a full-time job, school and three kids is not easy. I'm confused from a religious standpoint as well as a financial one. Spiritually I feel like I am supposed to be with my ex husband, but realistically, I am not sure. I don't really have a question, but I'm more looking for any advice that anyone has to offer. Thank you.

Spiritually you should of not got married to your second, but if he is as bad as you said then I would leave. It is hard I have 3 kids 50 hr week job and single but it can be done.
As for your ex leave it alone. |

Take things one thing at a time. First, you need to get away from your current husband. I will give you a link to a site which may help escape from an abusive husband and they may help, if only to give some advice that you can use. Since your ex husband is in Mexico, you can not be totally sure that he is as good as you think he is, although he may well be. Take is easy when the time comes to get together though until you are sure that will work out. As far as the religious standpoint, remember Christ said not to throw pearls before swine, and this guy sounds like a swine to me. |

If your current husband can't get his act together, then you should be alone. Going back to the ex...is going backwards. There's nothing wrong with being single. As far as the financial situation, if you get divorced, then obviously you would have to downsize and cut out some of the expenses you have. |

I don't think that you should stay with your current husband for the reasons that you have listed and I don't see that you can be with your ex-husband. I am not religious but I would say take a chance alone and leave it to God. The problem seems bigger than you. |

Hmm....well, I think you should hold off on going back to your ex for a while. Right now, what's best for the family as a whole, I think, is if you stay with your current husband and keep getting support from him and his money. :] I mean that in a good way. Like, he is your husband and he is supposed to help you. Keep thinking about this and in five years, you'll know the answer. Good luck!! |
