Could someone please explain to me exactly how gay marriage hurts straight marriages?

UH... it is a total MOCKERY of the entire meaning and sanctity of being married AS a HUSBAND and a WIFE. The VOWS read from the BIBLE are clearly written and meant for a MAN AND A WOMAN.

IF gays insist on getting "married", they should write their OWN vows and leave the original ones alone. I am NOT against gays doing whatever they want BUT I DO have a problem with them using what is NOT designed for them and claiming it SHOULD or that is DOES. NO, go make your OWN.

My boyfriend and I have this discussion often: I am 100% for gay marriage, and he is 100% against. These people who are against all cite the bible for their reasons why. But do they not also see that the bible allows for a father to sell his daughter into slavery? And there are several men in the bible with multiple wives?

The only thing that makes a mockery out of marriage is the absurdly high divorce rate in the United States...and last time I checked, only straight people are being counted in this tally :D

It doesn't gay and straight marriage are both a choice that 2 people that love each other and want to commit to a permanent relationship choose. In NO way does Gay marriage have anything to do with my marriage to my husband. The world now has TOO much hate in it. Why can't people see that love whether it be Gay, Straight, or other is a good thing? 2 people that love each other should be able to marry and show their love to the world. Our world would be sooooo much better with more love being able to be expressed than it is with all the hateful people against gay marriage.

BikerChi has a good point. They need to write their own vows. But that is a minor issue since most women write their own nowadays. They usually don't like the honor and obey parts.

It doesn't hurt straight marriages. It hurts the values of the family. We don't want our children thinking that this is normal. It tears apart the family structure that we value and thrive on as a culture. To accept sin is one step closer to the doom of our civilization.

i personally dont care if gays marry eachother, if they want to, they should be able to. i dont believe its natural, so i guess that makes me a homophobic so whatever
