What do you think? My boyfriend has never dated a single mom. He is 32years old never married or kids. I am 25 years old. Divorced. He is definitely ready to start a family. However we have been dating three months so not with me yet obviously. My sons father is very much involved with his son so my new guy and i have lots of alone time. We are amazing together. We talk about our future. He just surprised me with a trip to Maui. I know he is falling in love with me. However he definitely voices his hesitation on how new this role is for him. How he never thought to be a step dad. I appreciate he is being honest and not just saying he is ok with it because that's all i want to hear. I love him. This will be the heart break to remember if he finds out this is really hard to deal with for him
So my question. Do you think that if he loves ME enough that he will accept his roles if we move forward?? If the juice is worth the squeeze?
Please Note:
*He is amazing with my son
*My son is 3 and in a terrible phase and is a pain.
we dated 1 1/2 month before i allowed them to meet eachother.
*He has stated that if we have children together that my ex will be a part of that and that's also hard to handle for him.
So he is definitely thinking this through and i hope you give him the credit he deserves on this. Does all this stuff matter if he loves me enough???

Well I can tell you that a "Blended" Family is not a easy row to hoe. My wife had three girls when I meet her and I had a son and a daughter so I know of what I speak. Having said that it sounds like from what you have said that he has thought this through and does love you and is willing to face life with you and your son head on. Yes being a step parent is hard at times but trust me it can and does work out if you are open about how you feel when problems come up.

No shouldn't matter at all . Ive dated single moms and when we did call it quits i missed the kids more then the woman . In most cases guys can handel other mans kids woman have a harder time with another woman's kids . |

Your son is not always going to be in his "terrible Threes". That shall pass. Don''t rush into marriage, in fact, maybe you should live together for a little while before you get married...just to see how he handles the situation of being a step-dad. I don't know, its sounds like he is a great guy and loves you. But it is soo important for him and your son to get along. Make sure that happens. Also ask him to elaborate on why he feels uncomfortable about being a step dad. |

I am a single mother of three so I think you have it easier than me, I think your boy friend loves you, I think is nice to know that he gets along with your son, but also be aware that this might be a problem not for him as a step dad but for your ex, because not all men accept second father figures on their kids life, anyways if this is not the case, I should say that you got nothing to worry about, just let time to play the part.
