You should have at least affected a limp and muddied yourself up. Your 'miraculous recovery' would have put them to pampering you to no end. Then you could have acted sullen and crafted elaborate plans to detect and inflict revenge upon the 'offending pig'. By offering some trite reward for the murderous swine, you could enjoy every buck-toothed farmer attempting to profit by turning in evil looking pigs. You chums might enjoy the distraction too. Hold court in the Raffles club to determine which pig attempted the deed, hold a trial, and dispatch the beast. If things get rowdy enough, you might even slip out without paying that farmer.

Yes, I am sure you just wanted to give her a good laugh and I am sure you both will be laughing some time down the line, but for a woman who really loves her husband it was probably devestating to her, although the dead pig should have made her think there was something to the story.

Yellow roses and sincere apology may help.

April Fools Day will have A LOT to answer for.
Your gesture.... it was NOT what I could call a fun thing as it has resulted in real stress and alarm.

What could be done to make up the damage caused?
If you get that right; you might have the chance to undo the damage and have a second chance with your wife and relations.

There are some misguided people on this forum who will tell you that what you did was funny. It wasn't. I didn't even laugh when you said the first part. It is not original. You have put your wife, who obviously (although no I wonder why) loves you through hell. How would you feel if she had done this to you?.

This is not a joke - you need help. I will be amazed if you haven't destroyed your marriage. If by some miracle she does come back to you, I would really make an effort to show her how sorry you are and never pull another joke on her again as if she does come back after this, the next time she won't.
