I do so look forward to this time of year. My wife only yesterday celebrated her birthday, I made special efforts and went over to London the previous evening to meet some pals at the club, as I do at least twice a week, and informed my wife I'd return the following morning. Meanwhile, I had the local constable visit the manor in the small hours to inform my wife that I was dead - having had a dead pig fall on me from a height.
When I returned to the mansion, I found my wife in tears, consulting with an undertaker and several members of the family. For the rest of the day, no one spoke to me and my wife has gone to stay at her sisters. Did I go to far?

I found it very amusing and it is apparent that your wife and family can not take a joke. You would think by now, they would expect this from you. It is obvious that you have been lax in your pranks lately, so you will need to step up the misbehavior to condition them. Good luck. |

Judging by her reaction, I'd have to say.... YES.
Goodness man, that's just horrible. How would you feel if someone told you your wife was dead? And since men have stronger control of their emotions, the fact that your WIFE thought you were dead makes it worst for her.
You should give her a gift she's always wanted, apologize, and never do that again. |

Yes in my opinion i think you've gone too far by activating the constable which adds credibility to the fake news, no matter how absurd it sounds. Worse still, you did not reveal the joke soon enough after the constable visit.
I suggest you do some serious apology and explanation to your wife and let her know you do not mean any harm by that ill-intended joke. |

death is not funny - I understand you wanting to make a funny though. Once I called my hubby at the grocery store and told him that my son had been cut and there was blood everywhere and I didn't know what to do - well then i proceeded to place him on the floor covered in blood and wait for hubby to get home. i got the cold shoulder for quite awhile - apparently it is not a good idea to joke about life and death. Sorry mate hope things even out soon. |

Wife view - ABSOLUTELY TOO FAR !!! death is only ever funny if it doesnt involve someone close to you, you messed with feeling she wud hope never to have to deal with and family would have seen that as disgusting...
