My husband and i moved in together 3 months before we got married and had already been engaged for 4 months when we started living together.
He is 44 and i'm 40.
We have been together 19 yrs and happily married 18 yrs.

I think living with someone first is better than getting married and finding out things aren't what you thought they would be like.
I think it's best to really get to know that person before committing to anything. Living together sort of prepares you for what married life will be like. |

We lived together unofficially from about a week after we got together. We just were always together. We got engaged after nine months. We got married two years later (I wanted to finish school first) and we've been married almost a year now.
Overall we've been together almost 4 years, married almost a year....we moved in together officially a couple of months before the wedding. I don't think it matters. If it's right, you just know it...and if it isn't it doesn't matter if you live together or not. |

Thanks for sharing? This is a bit of an odd and interesting question from someone who has been "happily married" for 18 years. Could it be that you had wished that you had known him better? Are you trying to tell us that your marriage, albeit happy, might not have happened if you'd had lived with him longer? Otherwise, at this point, what could it matter? If just a simple question, then the answer seems pointless. |

We were house mates in a shared house at university, we moved in together officially a year after we got together as house mates and lived together for 2 years before we got married. We have been married for 7 years this year. |

Yes.
I think as long as you are both thinking about marriage in the future it's a great idea. You get to know a lot more about what they're like than you would otherwise. Unfortunately some guys use it as a way to keep a woman handy without having to make a comittment. And that's no good for the woman of course. |

We started unofficially living together 3 days after we met. We have been together for 18 months... ages 46 and 48. We have never had one fight, married after 8 months... and believe in honesty even when it comes to dreams. From our past we each have 3 ex spouses who lied, cheated and gambled. My only regret is we did not meet so many years ago. |
