I did feel pressure from my family. Since we moved in together my family constantly asked when we were getting married. I got tired of it and told him we needed to just pick a date. I didn't want to let my family down again. Now we are on our way to divorce because of a stupid choice I made a few months ago.

I really don't think marriage is necessary. I married my husband because I got pregnant and his parents are church goers. They wouldn't approve. I don't see the difference between living together and getting married. You can sign that person as you Power of Attorney. You could sign them as the person to make medical decisions.

I guess health insurance coverage would be the only draw back.

I didn't feel pressured into marriage until i had my 4th child,i then felt that i was the only one not married,we got married and we've been married for 20 years and have 4 amazing girls....society was to blame but fortunate for me it worked a treat.x

No, if that was the case for me. Then my husband and I would have gotten married within the year of the engagement (like most people do). However we were engaged and living together 4yrs and went thru 1yr deployment before getting married.
