Does anyone think Polygamy marriage (having more than one wife) is wrong?

I think it is great only so long as the rope swings both ways because I for one seriously need more than one hubby.

Moral or immoral, right or wrong, it makes no difference. Polygamy is illegal in all 50 states and it is a Federal crime as well.

For the life of me, I can't see why on earth a man would want to have more than one wife at a time. And I for danged certain I don't understand why a woman would be willing to have a husband with multiple wives.

Not my cup of tea but if someone else wants to do that I can't really say anything about it. As someone else mentioned though it's not a hugely widespread practice in this country. And in those countries were it is more common it's expected to share so you don't have the same sort of reactions we have here.

Since you've stated that in your opinion it's "impure", I'm going to assume that you are religious, and then state that sharing opinions with a religious person is a never ending battle... so I am not going to give you mine!

The problem that I have with them is that a lot of these girls are 13,14,15 when they are betrothed to these men.

But I think that if all of the parties involved are consenting adults, I don't see anything necessarily WRONG with it.

I don't think that I could ever do that though...can you imagine if ALL of your wives are on their periods at the same time???

So to them its normal,to us horrible,but if their happy that way and it works,and doesn't cause a problem in society apart from horrible,then they should be happy.

No, it depends on the culture.

In some cultures (such as this one) it's seen as hurtful. In other cultures it's the only way to survive given their specific living conditions.

Let them be. They aren't actually invading your home and hurting you now! They've existed for many many years before you learned of them! So let them be!

Its not my thing, but I don't think its wrong, either. I just don't like to share and prefer my husband all to myself.

People the world over practice polygamy and have no problem with it because it does not violate their religious beliefs. Some religions actually require polygamy.

Most people who disapprove only do so beause they are of a religion that is against polygamy or because their culture has encouraged individualism and that makes them jealous of another spouse.

Anyone read the KJV Bible lately? Manyy of God's favorites were polygamous.

It's not for me, but I think if it works for someone else and everyone involved agree with it, than GOOD FOR THEM! There are so many unhappy marriages in this world that often end in divorce. I think if they found a way for it to work for them then there is nothing wrong with it. As a matter of fact, I applaude them. Imagine having more than one wife to have to support, and all the nagging the husband must have to put up with! LOL I think it would be an extremely hard thing to do... I don't think my husband would be able to put up with a 2nd wife, let along a 3rd, 4th , etc!

Lemme be the first to say that it is absolutely devestating to find out that your husband is married to another. We married in 97, split in 00, reunited in 06 and then I found out (we never divorced) that in 04 he married and divorced a lady and then in 05 married another and is still married to her as well as to me. It is illegal as hell and personally, for the lies, deceit and pure hell both her and I are goign through, he deserves to rot in jail!
