My soon to be Ex-wife and I are having very different opinions on what's best for our child. A counselor suggested co-parenting counseling. Does it help?

My side of the divorce has been full of couseling sessions, loss of time with our child and a great deal of confussion. My ex-wife has pretty much done what ever she wantsa, including asking me to leave and blaming me for everything. She only went to counseling for three times.

It's rare that two people going through such a hurtful and harmful time can sit down and have a truly rational conversation about how to manage and handle things. That first response has to be by some single and angry human being with no true life experience.
Yes, counseling will help you with all of this. It will help you two reach reasonable goals and reasonable middle ground for the sake of the child. When one goes off the deep end on their own emotional vendetta, the counselor will bring it back to the child and help the irrational come back to a rational state of mind. It can also help heal some wounds so that you two can be better parents to the child.
For the sake of the child, this would be a worth while venture. |

If this is your only alternative to working things through, for the sake of your child, please go.
At least you will both be able to understand the other's point of view and even if you don't agree with it, hopefully you will respect it.
Often we see problems only from our own point of view, and because of the bitterness of the breakup, are unable to be sympathetic. A calm and reasonable voice might help you through. |

It can help some, but most of the time the parents are going to do what they want anyway and they dont care what happends once they leave the place. You should have maybe tried to work things out. |

Oh yeah, it's gonna help a GREAT deal. It'll help put money into that counselor's back pocket because 2 people can't figure things out for themselves. |
