Does he think we are having an affiar?

I am married and went out for a drink with a married male friend the other night. I thought it was innocent. His wife and my husband both knew where we were. We saw my hairdresser, and we chatted and I introduced them...afterward my friend says out of the blue "your hairdresser thinks we are having an affair." I blew it off at the time, but now it is driving me nuts. Did my friend say that because HE thinks we are having an affair, or because he wants to? What?
Additional Details
I asked him, but we do go out for drinks together sometimes. Usually with the spouses, but soemtimes alone. So,heheheh, should I bring it up again?

If I were you I would not repeat this gettogether. Yes, it was not an affair. But you must realize that when it looks like an affair and people think it is an affair, some will believe it. Not a good idea.

Maybe he really just got the impression from your hairdresser that she thought something fishy was going on.
If I were you, I'd start making sure my spouse was with me when I was with this "friend" just in case he's interested in you more than a friend or the other way around.

I know you know the answer to this question. You heard the tone of your friends voice and saw the look on his face. You feel the under current of the feelings you two don't talk about, and the nature of your conversations. If everything I wrote makes complete sense, the answer is yes, you are in an affair that hasn't past the point of no return yet. If you don't know what I'm saying, the affair is only on your friends part, and he may very well want to go further with it. I would avoid future problems and try going out with your husband instead.

Firstly who asked who out for the drink without your partners? If it was him then he is making it pretty clear that HE is the one wanting an affair.

As for your hairdresser, like most they are chatty and im sure if she thought anything she would have said something, if you are that paranoid, book an appointment for just a wash and blow and make a joke about the whole thing (when she bumped into you in the pub) and see what her reaction is
