Provided you mean left/right as in your left/right while you are laying in bed. I don't remember where I read this, but it has something to do with the wedding ceremony and why sleeping this way is so common in our culture. We get married and sleep this way because it is easier for the man to protect the woman this way. This started in wedding ceremonies so the man's right arm was on the outside of the couple, away from the bride, and men had their swords on their left sides. This way, a man's right arm was free to draw his sword if need be to protect his wife and himself during the ceremony. He could easily reach across his body, get his sword, and have the weapon on the opposit side of his body as his bride so he had more room to maneuver it safely. This is also why we sleep this way. I don't know, though, why this has stuck for so long, since men no longer have their swords on their hips during weddings and next to them when they sleep (well, I guess some weird ones still sleep with knives/guns, but that's probably their own problem). But anyway, I don't think it really matters in today's world. |

Here is my rule of thumb: I sleep on the side closest to the door. In the event that someone comes in I can defend my lady. If they intend to shoot they will shoot the person closest, another reason.
It is more of a defensive thing. I always end up on the right though for some reason. That is funny now that you mentioned it. |

It doesn't matter where you sleep on the bed, but I highly recommend sleeping on top of the mattress. |

Nahh that's just a coinsidence. Couples just compromise depending on what side they feel more comfortable in. |

You mean the left side if you're looking at the bed? If so, that's how we are as well. I doubt it means anything. What means something is if you are touching while you sleep. |

No, just where you are comfortable |

My wife is right i am left. The alarm clock is on the left, so that might be how we started that way. I also am a light sleeper so being closer to the door i can hear my daughter down the hall if she needs me in the middle of the night.. |

I sleep in the middle of my bed, and my bf sleeps in the middle of his bed. (He's 6'7" and it's hard for us to get a good nights sleep if we sleep in the same bed)
But when we do sleep together I sleep on the right and he sleeps on the left. I thinks it's just personal preference. |

I have to sleep closest to the bathroom. He has to sleep close to the door because, if the baby wakes up, that's his responsibility. |

I got the window and the TV. He got the bathroom and the bedroom door. As long as you're sleeping together who cares? |

Doesn't matter it is simply what a couple gets used to.
But I also always sleep on the left leaving my right side of the bed fo anyone else! : ) |

I believe that most people choose their side of the bed because of it's proximity to the door. I am firmly convinced that men sleep farthest from the door so that when the kids need something at night , it is Mom that they reach first! lol |

It matters to me because I am most comfortable sleeping on my left side facing the edge of the bed, which means I need to be on the right side of the bed. I could sleep on the other side, but it would not be as comfortable to me. |

I sleep on the right and mu husband sleep on the left. Are we sleeping on the wrong side. I really didn't know that there was a right or wrong side. I don't think it matters as long as you both go to the same bed. it could be worse. |

It's not that way for everyone, ok. There are many reasons to have a favorite side of the bed. |

I also sleep on the left and my husband on the right, but that's just because the right side is close to the door and he leaves for work earlier than I do.
We recently moved the furniture around, so I used to sleep on the right when the left side faced the door. I don't think it really matters. |

God wrote out in the Bible: Many shall sleep on the right side. since then in history it's passed down from man to man. |
