She used to have a tough upbringing with a controlling dad who hardly gave her options. She stopped attending church in her preteens, listened to music and became a musician and moved out of her home in her early twenties. This was all against her father's will.
Then she got married to a guy who would not allow her to finish her school, made her life impossible to live with, he lived out of her hard earned salary and who she really did not click with. He threaten her with spousal support if she divorced him. Thank to her salary he was able to go on with the business they both started. She ended up leaving him, did not sue him for half of their family business and even paid for her own divorce. Now she seems happy but has been single for a few years. What is up with that? Does she have a character flaw? She seemed to run away from these situations instead of changing them. What is your opinion?

Well people change, and it sounds like she married the wrong man and rather than stay in it she left, if she continue this behavior another time than maybe there could be a problem. So far I dont see it. |

My opinion is that no, she does not have a character flaw. What she has is some common sense and self respect. Why would she wanna stay with someone who controls her, whether that be her father or her husband? She has the right as a human being to live her life however she chooses, and to be happy. |

I think she's a victim of parental and spousal abuse. It changes a person and makes it extremely difficult for them to control their own life. Maybe you could show compassion for her instead of judging her. If you haven't been in her shoes you don't know how devastating it is. |

It is a bad situation but I have noticed that many times if a girl is controlled or abused by her father, when she grows up she tends to marry or be with men of that same character. Same as if they had a parent that was an alcoholic. You could put that girl in a room with a hundred men and she will end up with an alcoholic. Often times the brothers of the household with controlling fathers grow up to be the same way to their wives, that is very controlling. |
