Does your spouse expect YOU to be the one to organize Mother's/Father's Day for her/him?

I only wish it could have at least been like that. At least then it would be like he still wouldn't mind celebrating holidays. My husband never appreciated any gift for any occasion. It didn't matter whether it was birthdays, Christmas, Father's Day, or any other day. Even if I organized everything, he would always put a damper on everything. Of course, he never helped the kids buy gifts or cards for me, either. I wanted to bring our kids up to celebrate special occasions and to think of other people, especially family members, by giving them a gift or card. This is the way the family I was brought up in did things. Now, my kids haven't learned to think of buying a gift or card for me for Mother's Day or my birthday, etc. My husband could care less, but I do - not for the gift, but for the meaning and thought behind it.
p.s. You should help your kid buy her mom a card and gift. $20 would be fine for her to pick out a gift but you should take her to pick it out. The card could be home made and, in fact, would be even more special that way.

It's your job to teach your child, here is just another lesson for you to teach her. Also your wife is the mother of your child so show her how much you respect that fact. Your mother may be long gone but she is watching you, make her proud.

I think it is your job to show your kids how to appreciate their mother, just as it is your wife's job to show your kids how to appreciate you.

Having said that, I don't expect my husband to get me anything. I do expect him to give my son some money and take him somewhere to pick me out a little something. My son is six, so he can hardly do that on his own. When he is older, it will be his responsibility to do things for us on his own, and I will not and do not expect things from my husband. He does get me stuff anyway, though.

Its your responsiblity for you to teach your child to respect and honor their mother or father..so yes.. you should be involved.

I got a ring when our first son was a baby - 5 years ago (he was like 2 months old so it was new and exciting for him). Now, 5 years later and another kid, I don't even know if he'll remember...unless his mom reminds him to at least wish me a happy day.

its about showing respect for the parent on that day. bill would kill one of our kids if they disrespected me. according to him, i gave them life and thats the one thing i ever have to do to earn it from them. him, they can respect him or not if he earns it or not. but they WILL respect mom!!!

i always but my partners mothers day prezzie its just the norm i suppose and if they were living with me(long story) i would proberly stil do it. and 20 is to much to giv to a 11yr old go with and help select something but dont give ur child that much cash and wen u say spend however much stick to it!the child will never learn the value of money otherwise

My husband has failed at the two Mother's Days we've had together. The first time he totally forgot. Last year he was told over and over by mutual friends and ended up bringing me a crappy rose three days after.

This year I told him if I didn't get something ON Mother's Day and not days after, I was also going to forget how to cook, do laundry, etc.
