my husband used to make twice as much though he recently lost his job. now i do about 60 hours per week and earning half of he used to make. while i am not having job, i had very low position work to pay the expence but now it turned out the situation has been reversed and he does not work. he does not want to take up any temp job. sure he does get unemployment benefit but after experience him saying *you should work, you should make money* when i was not working, him not doing the same does not make me feel good. is it fair?? now that he is not working, there would be no wedding or no honnymoon. after giving that up and seeing his atitude, that make me think if he is being a man to address to the situation. i cannot help but to think he is lazy.... he is type of person *his money is his money, your money is your money* it is difficult for me to plan things as a couple or family. we do not even have shared bank account. it does not sound healthy finance if he think like single guy. what is your oppenion??

He's right to keep separate bank accounts. A joint account leads to no end of trouble and confusion. Plus, keeping money seperate avoids arguments and bitterness. Trust me. |

I think if he has income coming in from EI. The books might be balanced and not to hold this against him. His intention must be to go back to work eventually or find something similar. Being unemployed is not a reason to be a bum. |

it's a difficult time for everyone.. he should understand how you feel since the situation was once reversed.. he's being selfish and unthoughtful to think of you living off him or depending on him.. cause you did marry him to have support and love through whatever.. remind him why you guys are married and once married you two are ONE.. sometimes you support him sometimes he has to support you.. and that's life/marriage.. his money is his money and yours is yours YES.. BUT you both have to work together to manage the household and bills in order for there to be no confusion/disappointment.. he's probably going through a phase due to having to rely on such little money but this is the time to come together.. remind him that you are there for him and how struggling effects both of you so he can see he needs to be more helpful.. even if not with money he can be supportive in other ways.. |

He feels like you depend on him too much financially. Time to get a better job and up your education. Now that you are paying all the bills and no money left over it teaches you the power of the dollar. He might want you to be more frugal in your shopping trips. Shared bank accounts start just before the wedding in many relationships. When he needs money he'll get a job. |
