It means you're both proud. If you left you should call if you want it to work. It's a sign of humility. If she calls you then she looks like she's begging. So unless whatever made her leave was 100% her fault, the ball is in your court to decide the fate.

If I was pissed, I wouldn't call. It would totally depend on the reason for the fight. and no, I would not think he was desparate if he called, just that he cared about me.

I think that it is dangerous to view problems like this as if they were games that you have to play right in order to "win"!

Not calling would not mean I didn't care, and if he called first, I would not feel like I had "won". If things were going on like this for a long time, though, and we were not married, I would probably begin thinking about taking a permanent break from the relationship. Married...that's a whole other situation.

It depends. Sometimes an hour apart or so is a good thing - sometimes longer. This isn't like Ross and Rachel on Friends and you're going to immediately go out and sleep with the copy girl, is it?

Sometimes I feel like I "won" if he calls first but I really feel like he cares enough to call and work it all out so the "victory" passes and I'm just happy that we aren't arguing anymore.

I'm guessing you don't live together though - if my husband just left and didn't show up for 24 hours - when he did come home, his stuff would be on the lawn.

Hypothetically...that's just a bit immature.
I would call by the end of the day to find out what the hell he wants. If he made it known when he left that he wanted freedom...I would never call him. There has to be some sort of closure if you decide you don't want to be there anymore. "I guess I'll see ya later", just wouldn't cut it in my book. Say what you mean. This is not a game to see how long it will take before she/he calls. There is no "winner". Be straight...you want to leave, give valid reasons and do so. Don't put your mate through this to prove who will give first... it just might backfire on you. Think really hard about this one.....Do you really want to be single? Hope this helps...

if i loved him i would call him and try to work it out. depends on what the argument was about. if he called first i would hear him out, and try to work on the problems i wouldn't feel as if i had won.
