Getting over ex - it gets easier! Any tips on staying strong?

I wrote the other day on how I had changed my mobile number to get over my ex boyfriend (who is married).

I know what would have happened, he would have called me when I least expected it, putting me back to square one. I have not heard from him in a while, although his wife did find out a few months ago, (not that that stoped him trying to crawl back even afterwards!)

Today I also blocked both his email addresses too. It's just these little things but they certainly make you feel powerful. I don't even know if he'll ever call or mail me again but now at least if I have no way of knowing, I will never worry about it.

Does it get easier from here on, now I have made these initial steps? (which I was unable/unwilling to before cos I didn't want to)?

Jc J, I have seen some of your other answers and you get thumbed down a lot, bless you, but that's cos you speak the truth. This is what I am worried about. I need help to stay strong. I realise what a humdinger of a mistake I made and I need to be able to cut him out of my life.

Yes things do get easier as time goes by.Some days are good,some not so good.But it does get better.I was married for 25 years and my husband at the time had an affair.I was a mess.But day by day,week by week,month by month it gets better.If I can recover after from a divorce after 25 years of marriage and two children you can too.

Sure...... might also help to realize the following. He is in a situation where he is claiming that he loves this person to her face. All the while sneaking and trying to make time with you... now... say he were to leave her and be with you. What about you is so special that it would make him change the fact that he is used to having his cake and eating it too? If you have an answer for that congratulations. If not.. you have your answer. That is that he is NOT a good person, and will be less than a good man to you!

It will get easier. It takes months, but each month will be easier and you will feel stronger. Try to stay away from married men. Too many people get hurt.

of course it does get easier, but usually it takes some time especially if you still love your other half. It is easier if you dont. Its not easy to give up your life with another person, and when you make up your mind to do so, yes its a good idea to sever all connections as soon as you can, but I would say, dont get rid of all your possessions that relate to your relationship when you get over it you can if you want still have your memories. Its a no-go area when there is a wife in tow either get rid altogether. Marty

Yup, it gets easier. It is all up to you staying away from him from this point forward. If he finds you, tell him to piss off and change your number again. Find someone who knows for sure that they only want to be with you.

You are definitely on the right track in what you are doing. And yes, as each day goes by the hurt and pain does get easier and eventually it will fade completely away. Yes it gets easier. Stay away from places that he visits and people that you both have in common, and get out of the house and do things, even if it's just shopping or going to the video store, just don't rent any romantic movies stick with the funny ones.
Remember, the best revenge is a good life!

Of course will be easier for you. Try to start a new life without him, is going to be hard, becuase it happened to me, and I did the same thing you are doing. Keep on going and try to focus your attention in someone else.

yeah, my ex did the same thing, except i had no feelings for her after the divorce, and i did some nasty stuff... like, she'll ask me to go 'place x' with her, and i'd say 'yes', and call hour later and say i can' t make it, etc... once, i agreed to go with her to her brother's in state of Maine (i live in chicago) and she even bought plane tickets... then i said i had the flu, a day before the trip.

yeah, i f*cked with her mind good and enjoyed every second of it.
