Perhaps approaching the problem in a more sophisticated manner would be beneficial to all parties involved.

I would suggest the following action. Find out when their anniversary is and proceed to present them with a present, daintily packaged, that includes some manner of protective foam cushion/bumper or similar material that can be used as a buffer for the sound, for installation between the headboard and the wall. Make sure that this material includes a well-written instruction sheet indicating exactly how to install it and why it must be installed.

for example:

" Attach cushion/bumper along the length of the headboard, making sure that the bumper is positioned adequately, centered the smallest space between the wall and headboard. Use the supplied velcro strips to attach the bumper. Our product will ensure a sustained longevity of your sleeping implement and as well reduce the decibels emitted when said implement is used for alternative activities, thereby creating more favorable conditions for harmonious relationships with neighboring units.

For your own safety, please be certain that the bed is not being utilized during the installation procedure."

You can accompany the present with a card expressing your desire to congratulate them on their impressive physical achievements and at the same time perhaps throw in a business card for the local "sleep clinic" , indicating that you have been a paying client since you both have been neighbors.

No harm in trying, yes?
