Government aid under Special Marriage Act 1954?

Mr. Vijay... We got to know that under the Special Marriage Act 1954, as Govt. of India promotes such marriages like hindu-muslim ones, the people get some aid from the government. Is that true? Is it limited to a section of people? Can you please help us providing this information. Appreciate your help.

Firstly the Special Marriage Act,1954 was enacted in 1954 to legalise & popularise civil form of marriage amongst people in India irrespective of their religion,caste, creed, nationality.
The purpose of the this Act was to help people go for inter-caste, inter-religion, inter-national marriage, considering every one equal in the eye of law of the land.
The government had at no time forced any one to go through marriage under this Act but kept this option open to the public to follow it at their own discretion.
The government neither aids nor financially help any one to marry under this Act or afterwards , but if any one marries under this Act he/she gets sufficient protection of law as the civil form of marriage amongst two person of same or different religion,caste,creed & nationality always provoke uneducated, religious fanatics to oppose such marriage, who may create public issue of this unnecessarily to gain undue publicity in media & press. Rather I will say even the Media & Press make issue out of such marriage rather on its own accord publicising the Civil form of marriage for the benefit of whole society. Its only person like me who make the said law popular amongst the people through such Websites as Yahoo.
The Marriage under this Act is not limited to any particular group/section of people as it includes all the people living in India. |
