Do guys still like a little bit of mystery when it comes to their wife?? I have been married, and lets just say our relationship is, for the most part, good! However, he never just talks to me about whats on his mind (stress, work, etc)...and I on the other hand, will tell you how I am feeling regardless!! We have been married for almost 5 years. So should I maybe tone it down a notch, and bring some mystery back to the relationship? Would that just completely turn him on, or push him away? I just don't want things to get old in the marriage!!

I'm not a guy but I've been married for 15 years and am still happy. You need to know that women are much more verbal then men. Don't try to change who you are because it will change the dynamics of the relationship. |

When guys get married part of their brain shuts down. MRI studies show this. Part of that has to do with interaction with you. To him you are becoming invisible. He doesn't talk and really doesn't care what you go through on a daily basis. he wants food, his clothes cleaned and the remote. after that he will put up with just abut anything. |

Telling him about your everyday events and feelings is important. Hiding that does not create mystery, it simply decreases communication. In my mind, mystery is only interesting at the start of a relationship. Once you're married, open communication is key to success.
On the other hand ... surprises can be useful. Secretly going to a massage workshop and then giving him a professional-level massage would create "mystery", surprise him in a pleasant fashion, and then create a great story for you to tell him and both of you to tell other people. Secretly learning one of your husband's hobbies so that you can participate with him, secretly setting up a bed & breakfast weekend where you only reveal your plans to him one step at a time (weekend before: "next weekend we're going on a trip so don't plan anything", on the road there "I hope you like horses ..." and say nothing more until you reach the horse riding activity) ... that's a good kind of mystery to have. |

Sometimes guys just want to be alone for a while. It is normal for a man...when you say "what's on your mind?" For him to say absolutely nothing. I know I can be perfectly happy doing absolutely nothing. Sometimes we do not have anything on our minds. I'd suggest you lay off him a little while when he gets home. Then he'll wake up after sorting out the day's problems in his head. |
