You stated why you think she doesn't need it, but you stated no reason why she should NOT get it. At least she has the reason that she wants the accomplishment. So since she has a reason, and you don't, she wins.

It is better for you if she gets it. You should be encouraging your wife to better herself. What if god forbid you die and she needs to support herself and possibly your children. Get over yourself, stop being selfish and be a man; help her.

Clo is back from Florida !
LOL ! I would teach your wife how to dump you and give her her Diploma right away !

KitKat
Ok, ERICA...your WIFE wants to get her GED as an accomplishment, whether she is going to work or not. She wants to be able to say that she has a diploma. You should be supportive of her, not trying to hold her back.

why would it matter...? what will it hurt if she gets it? what if you die? what if it doesnt work out? What if your business fails? what if you get cancer and she has to help out? I mean cmon..it takes like a day to get..why is that such an issue?

temptedbydc
Let her get it! I got mine, went on to college and now make a great salary!

BRrrr Why Am I Soo Cold???
That is such B.S!
She may want to work and if you wont 'allow" it than your even more of of a piece of cr*p!
You shouldnt
be trying to keep her from bettering herself!

what would it hurt?

there are too many women who divorce and can't get a job later

she should have it

Maybe you need to go back to school also. Obtaining a degree is not just about getting a job. It is about a sense of accomplishment for some people. It is also about learning. Many people consider themselves to be life long learners. There is nothing wrong with persuing education. If you hold her back, she will someday resent you for it.

Ms. GTO
Why would you not want her to better herself?

It sort of sounds like you want to keep her uneducated and trapped at home.

She needs to get her GED!!!! What if something happens to you and she has to get a job, then what.

You shouldn't, plain and simple. If she isn't going to get a job, then it's still good to be educated. I don't understand why you would want to convince her otherwise.

You should'nt encourage her not to. I think it's a good thing for her and you should be more supportive.

Why don't you want your wife to get a GED? Even though you have a good business, I think its selfish of men for not wanting their wife to get an education or degree that she wants. What will happen if your business collapses or you are not around to support her?

to bad, it is her life, you really have little to no say in whether or not she can do this. If this is what she wants than she will do it irregardless of what you say.

meeshey84
you should support her because that's what a good husband would do. you are being selfish and she will ultimately hold it against you if you persuade her not to.

Sounds like your insecure about it, she will want it when the kids start coming and they ask her about school.. let her do it.. don't be a PUTZ!

THAT IS THE MOST SELFISH THING I HAVE EVER HEARD!!! I WOULD DIVORCE MY HUSBAND IN A SECOND IF HE WANTED ME TO "FAIL" AT LIFE JUST BECAUSE HE MADE GOOD MONEY!!! YOU HAVE SOMETHING MAJORLY WRONG WITH YOU. SHE NEEDS HER INDEPENDENCE.
I am the same age as your wife and my husband supports me with everything I do INCLUDING going to college! You are such a dumb ***!!!

aces
i hope she realizes what you are trying to do and leaves your sick sorry ***. she deserves someone who is going to want her to succeed in a world where education is key. You gave the perfect words for your business "good," not great. You are a 24 year old boy who is a prime example of an uneducated person.

Today is as good a day as any to grow up a little bit. You may have a good job now, but there are no guarantees that the gravy train will last into the future. You could easily find yourself in a position where you need to depend upon her abilities to likewise earn a living, and if she foolishly listens to your suggestions against further educating herself you would reap the consequences of that narrow vision. Education is not just for getting better job opportunities (though that IS a big consideration), it's also a vehicle for self-fulfillment and enrichment through expanded awareness, and a secure man who has his family's best interest at heart wants his woman to have as much of that as she can handle. Lift where you stand. Good luck.

Uh, what happens to her if something happens to her? Shouldn't you support her in accomplilshing anything to better herself? Sure she may not need it now but in the event that she was left alone to fend for herself, that's one thing she won't have to worry about. Think of the future.

LMFAO!!! ... tight her down to a chair ... lol ... or get her pregnant time after time ... she have time ....... lol thats what my man did .... J/K but for real....

You should go with her to class and let her help you get your GED. That would be the smart thing to do.

Um, just let her get her GED... why on earth would you not want her to get her education? Oh, I know why, so if she ever wants to leave you, chances are she wont because she wont have her education and more then likely not have enough money to leave!!

Geez... if she's smart, she'll get it anyway.

THE BLONDE WITCH PROJECT
Why not? Are you afraid your wife will make something of herself if she gets her GED, goes on to complete college, and gets a good job, one day?......You need to be more supportive of your wife....It will benefit both of you.......And by the way, I don't know why she's waiting for your permission....she's a grown woman and it's her choice.....

That is too controlling. I smell emotional abuse. Am I to assume you want your kids to be stupid, too?
