Typically how many relationships have been saved with counselling? Is it really worth it? Especially if your dragging the other because they want nobody telling them how to run their lives?
When does it become unfixable?
Just some tales of experience would be helpful...Thank you.

If both are wanting to work on and fix things counseling can help. Reality being that you both know what you need to do down deep and if both would apply the things you need to do to yourself you could begin repairing things.
Forgiveness and trust is a biggy. If one or both has done sonthing really hurtful and wants to fix things the other has to be able to forgive, move on, and put it in the past. |

The only way counseling will work, is if you are both willing to compromise. If you don't both put your all into it, then no, it's not going to work. It might give them a better perspective of how they are, and you will see the things you do wrong as well. But in the end you have to be willing to change, and if he doesn't want to, then it won't work. |

It sure worked for us. But you BOTH have to want to do it. Shop around. Interview several counselors. Pick one that you like. They all have different styles and different methods. Ours interviewed us together, then separately, then together again, until he figured out what our problem was, Then helped us to figure out what our problem was. Then he worked with us to fix it. He gave us exercises, assignments, etc. All in all, it took about 8 months. It was not cheap, but was worth every penny. It was sure cheaper than divorce. That was 35 yrs ago. Good luck. |

Yes, counseling HELPED us work through a really, really hard time. It did not save our marriage though, my hubby and I did a lot of work and realized we had SO much to learn.
We realize that the valleys do not last forever and we committed to staying together and doing whatever it would take to be happy.
