I'm afraid people have to learn by their own mistakes in life - this is something you must NOT meddle in, she wont thank you for it and it could alienate you both. Just be there for her if and when it all falls apart and for heavens sake don't say "I told you so". |

I really hope in 45 years someone is writing in here asking for advice because I am marrying his little sister!
Seriously though, I think your sister may need some help, was she not close with your Dad/Granddad? Could it be a reaction to not having a figure like this present in her life? It's possible that she may look to this old sicko for some reassurance she has been missing... |

He's 69? Oi, he might have another 20 to 30 years of diaper changes ahead of him. Yes, she's lost her mind, if she ever had it, but ah well. |

let her make her mistakes, they are hers to make, just be waiting to support her when it crashes and burns......or steal his cane so he cant walk to the alter. |

Hate to say it but if she's determined there's probably nothing you can do except sit back and watch the train wreck....You will always be there to pick up the pieces afterwards and if you love her...without the "I told you so".
She's more likely to thank you for that than for meddling in something that she has clearly made her mind up about. |

Suggest she does nurse training.
A member of my family married a (not that much) younger woman. She had to nurse him (and resented it) for several years after he developed heart disease and had a stroke. I know she loved him, but she had difficulty coming to terms with doing that when she'd not thought that far ahead.
She maybe has a need for an older 'mentor' someone she looks up to.
Could your parents maybe talk to him? |

of course you can stop her, shes not 18 |

its her life let he make her own mistakes.. you wouldn't thank your family if they interfered in your life would ya! |

Remind her what happens when ppl get old!
Not just babies that wear nappies!!
Make a point of showing you disapproval by not attending the wedding! And tell her in advance of that fact!
Let her know that you love her and will alsways be there for HER (not fella) but you can't condone it and won't attend!! |

That is feral. Besides the fact, your parents still have a say till she is 18 years. Let your parents intervene as you don't want to have a relationship breakdown and loose your sis. She may need you later. |

Dosent she need parents consent at that age? I guess it is up to her you can only try to give advice and support her, even if it is wrong desion, sooner or later she will realise and if she knows you are there for her, then she will be glad |

She's 17, you lock her up in a dark room until she's 18 and then you deal with the problem.
Maybe ask her why she's doing it and if she gets defensive just say that you really do want to be happy for her (whether it's the truth or not) so you would like to understand her feelings more and be sure that she will be happy. If she actually loves him then there's not much you can do but if there's another reason then maybe you can give alternatives. |

If you're in the USA your parents can refuse to give permission 'cos she's under 18, and if in the UK you are allowed to get married at 16 but if under 18 parental consent has to be given. But there is no stopping her if over 18. Just a note to add is it worth mentioning to her that he is perverted wanting to marry a girl that young? I know you have probably mentioned that already but she may not have thought of him in those terms. If she goes ahead with it just be there for her when it all goes down the pan. |

What are your parents thinking of even giving her permission? Surely she needs their consent? She is under age for goodness sake. |

the more you disapprove, the more determind she'll get!
She's probably doing it for the money she may inherit when he dies.
Tough one. I dont know what to suggest to stop her. Lock her away on the 'wedding day' maybe.
Good luck! |

How did they meet ? She is delighting in the the furore and attention she has created for herself in this shocking situation. Explain how this decision will change her life, the age difference is a vast amount ,52 years to be precise, old enough to be her Grandfather in fact. Does she want children ? Is she mature in her outlook ? Does he like modern music? she will be restricted in her young social life Is he financially secure, is she looking for a Father figure ? If she is rebellious, do not oppose her decisions, because it will only strengthen her resolve. Her Ideas are undeveloped. |

She must love him to be going through with this. It is your sisters decision at the end of the day and there is going to be no stopping her.
The more you push her not to do it the more determined she is going to be to do it.
She will come to her senses. Just give her time. |

He indeed is a dirty old man, but there's nothing you can do about this one except stop telling her she's crazy. Don't say anything else to her about it. Have you ever tried to see what type of personality she has as far as wanting material things, wanting attention or needing a father in her life. I mean, she could be doing this in hopes to get money if and when he dies. In reality, they could live longer than she will. She could enjoy all of the attention and if all of you stop yelling, talking and trying to reason with her, she will soon drop the notion of marring grandpa. Why haven't your mother went to the police about him dating this minor? |

Does she want lot of riches? If so, she will get them if the husband is rich. |

all you can do is let her live her own life she has to make her own mistakes to learn lessons in life just try gives her advice but i really doubt it would do any good. But I agree with you a 17 year old and a 69 year old should not get married he could be her grandfather two times. good luck |
