My husband took an IQ test in high school and scored a 138 and one before college and scored a 142 to see if he could get in college for free. I don't have a problem with him being smart, but I feel so stupid! I don't have a deploma or a GED. I do some things I'm good at, the things Im best at. And he does it, and in less than an hour he is better than me. I know I must sound immature, but geez. I can't even win an argument because he always makes me feel little by explaining every detail, and telling me "how i must feel".

My wife and I often have the same problem. (she has a GED though). I get so used to things coming so easily that I forget how hard some people have to work for them. I tend to be extremely logical while her views are somewhat abstract and emotional. To tell you the truth, I think every relationship needs an intelligent person. Two dumb people would make horrible off-spring. It's not like you don't benefit from his intelligence. You'll be better at some stuff than he will though. Like being a mother.
The "you must feel" stuff, isn't really about intelligence. He probably picked that up somewhere, and its a really effective passive way to win an argument. |

Oooh. His problem isn't that he's smart, it's that he is a d*ck. He sounds condescending and superior, and I would have a major problem with that.
Additonally, arguments shouldn't have a winner or a loser. The point isn't to win, it's to UNDERSTAND the other person. Sorry, his intelligence doesn't give him carte blanche to act like that.

My boyfriend is very smart also. dont focus on that. focus on the good points of your relationship. My boyfriend is an aerospace engineer, he always tries to explain everything to me about it. I just tell him it is a bit much. I also think you should get your ged it will boost your confidence.
Be honest with him though and tell him how he makes you feel.he probably doesnt realize. |

She did not know I would catch on and she was not smarter than me
She wrecked 2 cars while I dated her. So that was 1 car per year.

NO...I haven't but I wouldn't let it worry you!!! I have dated/married people who were not as smart as I am, and I am a very smart person (or so I have been told). We all are gifted in our own way, and to me one of the goals in life is to find what we are gifted at.
No one is smarter than anyone else in this world. Some people just realize things faster. The fastest way to realize something is to take personal preferences out of the equation

My wife is smarter than me in English. She is also better articulate when it comes to the subject of emotions, relationships etc She is better than me in memory. You have to bear in mind that people are smart in different ways. You will have knowledge about a range of issues and subjects that he will not have.
As for how you must feel- jeez, come on, emotions are in no way connected to intelligence.
You may want to remind him to stop being so patronising. |

Also, just because he is smart, doesn't mean he is wise. Making everyone else feel inferior, especially the person he is romantically connected to, is not wise. An IQ of 142 doesn't mean much when you are lonely because you pushed everyone else away being Mr. Smartypants. |
