If you want to present toilet paper in the proper fashion, it should be over, so that you pull off the top of the roll, and when replacing or cleaning the bathroom, the end should be folded over to form a point for ease of use for the first user. |

don't bother with toilet rolls...
...leave pile of rocks nearby!
Soon enough, people won't see the point of an etiquette to how paper should hang or if they need colourful prints of ducks to "pretty-up" as it's only going to wipe **** off... |

Hang two friggin roles. One over, one under. |

Over, simply cuz I like it that way.
MUCH MORE important is the holder itself! DEFINITELY NOT the old style. But rather the open end child/male model, whereas the roll merely slips on. WALLAH!!! ANYONE is able to change it..........AND they actually do!!!
Now THAT'S what I'm talkin 'bout!!! |

Over looks better. Notice how they do it in hotels? .....it's over. |

Under, because the TP spins a little easier and you're not just trying to rip one piece after another especially when the roll is full and rubbing against the wall. When it's under, it doesn't tear as easily so you can get more than one piece. But it does not take the incredible hulk to tear the toilet paper anyway.
You better give me best answer or else I'm not going to cook for you tonight!! And you can do your own laundry AND dishes!! |

As long as there is TP who cares. |

over, you have more control over how much is being used.. Not under.. |

I've found that it depends on where the TP roll is hung. In my bathroom now, the hanger is further back from the toilet so it's easier to rip when the paper is hung under but in other bathrooms it works the other way. And I know ... I've put way too much thought into this. How embarrassing!!! |

I worked as a housekeeper in a fairly nice hotel for a short period of time and we were instructed that the proper way to place a roll of toilet paper on the roller was with the paper going over the roll.
Personally, at home it goes on the roll whichever way it happens to get on there. But, I do have to admit if the paper is going over the top of the roll it is much easier to work with. |

definitely over!!!!!! |

It is your preference...just as long as there is TP in the bathroom for you to wipe the butt. |

TP should be over!! It makes sense! If it's under... it doesn't really roll right and it makes it harder to find the start. When it's over, you can clearly see where the TP starts. |

I don't think it really matters, in the overall scheme of things, but - if such a reality is sooooo very critically important to you ?
Try it both ways - and set it to your personal preference.
I just hate when the cardboard tube gets smashed, and the durn thing won't turn --- EITHER way!!!!! |

Over. When its under you can never find the end, it just keeps going around and around. Over when you spin it gets caught up in the wind and you can see it flapping around. Of course this is when your spinning towards you |

over! |

under...in an utterly compelling manner! |

It just depends whose house it is, and who is the last one to fill the roll up. If you like it one way or the other, then that's the way YOU like it. Unfortunately, there are some things that men and women will never agree on. It's easier to yield and let them have it their way. |

Under...
Thanks to gravity, chances are the end of the TP will hang down so then you wont have to spin the roll like madd looking for the start....
See there's a reason to my madness!!! |

Over so if you have kids they don't let it go and go unto the floor . |

The end of the argument would be to just accept that it is a per-person preference. |

TP is to placed on the roll so that one sheet is hanging over. This is from a girl who's parents made her go to proper etiquette school. |

If it's hung over, when you go to tear it, it provides a cleaner tear than if it is hung under. Less chance of having a ragged piece of toilet paper for the next person to grab. |

I honestly don't care which way it is hung, as long as the roll gets changed when it is empty (which it never does) |
|

Over!! it's easier to get to then. If you have it under, the tear is always behind the roll, so you have to roll the roll to find the end! |

As long as it spins, who cares? My problem is scented toilet paper. Why? |

TP should be hung over. This may sound crazy, but it's just more considerate for the next person who has to use it. The TP is more accessible, especially during those moments when the paper sticks to the roll and you have to find it and unstick it from the roll. "Over" is the way it should be! |

It really comes down to personal preference, and is one of the small things in life. Compromise is the best solution. Try it over one day, and under the next for a little variety in life. |

I would have to say over. first of all, you don't have to feel around and see where it starts, you can see it hanging. second, lets just say you are in a bit of a hurry, all you have to do is give it a quick slap, and there you go, it rolls out to the amount that you need. Definately over. |

It really has never bothered me if it is over or under. Either way it's still used for the same purpose. |

It doesn't matter, the reason hotels and other public places hang the roll so that it peels off the back is to save on paper. When you pull it off the roll from the rear it tears off shorter thus saving paper. |
