I finally brought up marriage to my boyfriend. We are both in our 20s and have been together for 15 months. We have known eachother way longer. Anyway.....Marriage has been on my mind soooo much. I was waiting to get the guts to bring it up.
I said to him, "Do I seem like a person you could see yourself marrying in the future?" His first answer was maybe? I said, "Maybe? So is that a yes or no?" He repeated the question and just seemed like he did not want to answer. Then when he was finished talking he said yes. The yes souneded forced or indefinite. Guys what does this mean? What should I do no? I do not want to be with a guy who doesn't even think there is a possibility we will get married.

I just want to add....our relationship is great. we talk about everything....and he never has a problem being honest with me....even if he thinks it will hurt my feelings. It is not my fault if he felt forced. I asked a yes or no question. He gave me a maybe. Maybe he thought about it before? comeon. If I asked him to actually marry me and he said maybe that is different. And by the way we knew eacthother for two years before I gave up my "candy." So please unless you can give out some constructive advice, please keep your comments to yourself. Thankz ;)

He's not ready to say yes yet, and you're pushing him. There's no comfortable way to ask the question you're asking this early in the relationship. I don't care how you worded it. The fact of the matter is this: All he heard was "Will you marry me?" |

If you keep this up, all you'll do is push him away. Right now he's telling his guy friends how you are now pressuring him for marriage. And if they really are his friends, they will tell him to avoid marriage at ALL costs. |

To me, it sounds like he really hasn't given it serious tho't yet until you just bro't it up. But, I feel if he truly does love you, you don't have anything to worry about. Don't pressure the idea tho, you have now planted the "seed". Give him a chance to digest it, then bring it up in a few wks. again & just ask IF he's given it anymore tho't. Best to you...:) |

The signal you sent him is You want to be *married*; not you want to be married to *him*.
From his perspective that is a massively abusive relationship; he's not much more than a doormat for your needs. |
