How can I let go the anger in me? Pls help.?

Broke up with my long term ex 6 months ago and I still can't let go the anger, and sometimes I feel that it is getting worse, I need to move on, pls help. Much appreciated. Thanks.

Angry because I felt betrayed. We were together for 8 yrs, also felt I've given him my youth :(

our anger can never touch the people that we are angry about because they are the ones more angry than ourselves and they are less capable to understand our reasons to be angry at them and about them. if they were not like that, they wouldnt have made us angry in the first place. so who can be affected by our anger? weaker than us. less angry than us. deeper and more compassionate than us. only weaker than ourselves we can actually harm, when we decided to do harm. isnt than a circle that makes a human being ugly and indecent? it takes away all the beauty from a human being. i was hurt so i am angry and i will hurt weaker than myself. what a terrible way to work. this is what therapists do to people. make them place their anger outside. which only SEEMS to be healthy. but how can it be healthy when it makes you feel (even if you are not aware of it, it is still there) and be just like the one that made you hurt, abused and in pain. to another weaker than yourself. only rarely a human being refuses to do to others what has it endured himself. only rarely a human being is what we are supposed to be, how we are supposed to be. religion teaches us to break this circle and go up, therapy teaches us to enter the circle again and go down. I believed that religious therapist could have been the special species that would put together the best of religion and the best of psychology but I was wrong. They seem to be even more dangerous, more equipped to manipulate an innocent human being that needs protection and support. whenever an illusion dies it hurts like hell, the mind is so tired of endless search for meaning, endlessly fighting for meaning since the time immemorial. But death of an illusion leaves the space for truth, however distant it may seem. And only truth can bring cessation of search restlessness. anger can be placed healthy only to the one single place where it belongs to. To God or any other source that a human being sees as a beginning point or ending point of our existence. Lack of bravery to endure THAT anger only makes us small little robots that repeat forever and ever the same pattern - being hurt, hurt the weaker, being abused, abuse the weaker.

You are angry because you are grieving the loss of a relationship. Anger is a normal part of the grief process. It could take awhile yet before you get through it but if you feel stuck and can't get rid of the anger you may want to consider counseling. Also, anger is a choice and as long as you choose anger the other person still owns you. Whenever you feel anger replace it with patience and kindness. You will not feel like doing this but do it anyway, eventually your heart will catch up with your rationale brain. Sometimes you have to lead your heart instead of following it. When you get to the point of forgiveness then you will have victory over the anger and you will regain control of your life. It is a difficult process but determine now that you will have victory over anger.

Try to be phlosophic about the matter. What was fore ordained to happen did happen. Turn your anger into energy to become the very best person you can be, Do something nice for another today in an act of random kindness. Help someone else. They may well be hurting far worse than you.

This is going to be hard to come to terms with. But hear me out. You first may want to consider a different perspective-one that you can actually heal from.

You have to become accountable for your anger.

Currently, you are displacing your anger on him. What ever he did-YOUR reaction to it is anger. IT IS YOUR CHOICE TO BE ANGRY. This is not condoning whatever he did-understand that. It is just taking responsibility for the emotion that YOU are feeling. This allows you to reframe the emotion. Perhaps you are more angry with yourself for not seeing the warning signs or staying in a relationship too long.
Be angry with yourself. Thats good.That allows you to fix it and move on. But to say that you are angry with him gives him waaay to much power and control over YOU. You can't heal yourself if you are focusing on someone else.

You are the only one who can change your emotion of anger. Do not give that to him. Even in your head. Reframe it. Accept that you are angry with yourself. Forgive yourself for not being aware. Exchange his name when you say "I am mad at HIM for THIS."
