Their behaviors change. Such as the clothes, coming home at different times, not being where they say they are.
There are tons of things that will give you a clue.

There are many ways to tell,,one good way is when the other half starts to accuse you of cheating. Another is pretty well known.
When one disappears for hours at a time with no explanation as to where they have been. Strange phone calls show up on a caller ID.
Someone calling you dont know asking for your other half.
Numbers on a phone bill you dont know. If you confront the cheater look at the eyes,,if they drift off as hes talking,,i.e. ,,looks away constantly,,thats a good sign..The eyes never lie.

u can tell by how he begins to treat u, if he suddenly begins to fault find, disrespect, name call, and u feel deep inside that something is wrong it probably is. your intuition will warn u that all is not right.

there was a bit of a sudden change with boyfriends and the ex husband. Maybe grooming himself better, wearing different cologne, not wanting to go certain places. Then the arguing started. Over petty things. Sometimes impossible things. Like not washing the shirt he wanted to wear, even tho he didn't tell me and he fell asleep wearing it after i fell asleep. Just erratic behavior. Lots of name calling. Often reminding me that they could do better. But then begging me not to go. Ive learned, even before it got that bad, if your gut is telling you something don't ignore it.

If your married to them you shouldnt have to worry about it. If there's even the slightest doubt that they might actually cheat on you. Then they are not ready to get married.

when they say... "honey, we need to talk... I've been cheating on you" ... thats a pretty big clue.
