We were married 7 12 years when we separated in March 2007. In these last 2 years, I've gotten together with someone else, moved to Ohio (from Oklahoma) with him, and we now we have a 4 month old baby.
I think that the right thing to do, now, is to go ahead and get a divorce. For the sake of everyone involved. I know nothing whatever about divorce, the law, etc. Please, any help would be much appreciated. How is it done? Considering the different state, etc.
My husband and I have one child together, and she lives with me (and my boyfriend, father of my second child) here in Ohio. She is almost six. My husband is a good man. I am the one who left him. We get along fairly well. I hurt him, but he accepts things...we are friends. I trust him, and neither of us wish to hurt the other thru litigation. He's agreed to sign any papers, etc. I guess we just need a simple, legal divorce that we agree upon. And we do have a child together.

Agree to a no contest divorce where neither of you is seeking anything from the other . Of course you will ask for custody of the baby and the judge will set child support . If you bothagree on that , you can get it done in no time |

Get an uncontested divorce and I see it in the Penny Saver paper and it don't cost as much! |

if both of you are not fighting the divorce then it may be quite easy. don't know about different state laws but in some states all you need to do is contact a legal aid office in Your area and they can tell you what you need to do. some states let you handle your own divorce but since you both live in different states you may need to go a different way. Hope it all works out for you |

go to the state web site you were married in and go to the self help center you can print divorce papers off of there for free then with you both agreeing on everything you just will have to pay the filing fee |

I actually used legalzoom.com. Some people love it, some hate it. My divorce was very simple....we didn't have kids, we didn't own anything together.
Legalzoom will prepare all of the paperwork for you (after you answer some questions) and then send them to you along with specific instructions on what to do.
I believe I paid around $300.00 for the paperwork and then of course the filing fee at the Courthouse.
Although....I wouldn't use legalzoom if it's going to be a complicated divorce, but from the sound of it, it doesn't really seem like it's going to be.
Anyway, it can't hurt to check out. :) |
