How do I get over being turned off by my mate?

I am in a similar situation. I'm in my forties and so is my husband. My husband is a beautiful person on the inside. But, he has some acne scars and a chipped tooth, which can all be fixed with Vbeam lasering and a good cosmetic dentist. But, last month I let him know how out of shape and fat he had become during our 13 yr marriage. I'm 5'5" and weigh 116 lbs. He's 5'7" and weighed 161 when we met. He has ballooned to 193 lbs from eating junk food (which he loves)! I made it clear that being overweight is unhealthy, aesthetically unappealing to me....and he was always too tired to initiate intimacy.
He's been on a diet for 2.5 weeks now and has lost 10 lbs. I'm so proud of him! I did all the nutritional teaching, which he accepted, and followed to the letter. He hasn't craved any junk food because the foods I buy for him are filling as well as nutritious. Before laying down the law about weight loss, I made sure that I never came across as overbearing or a nag. I even joined him by starting a diet, but not for weight loss. I did it to show camaraderie. He appears content and relaxed. So, for any wife out there who thinks her frog can't be made into a handsome prince, let me tell you that you're wrong :) Be supportive. You'll reap the benefits in the end.

I supose you cant help how you feel towards his looks, but how would you feel if he felt the same way about you? Youu could help him find a new style? Or haircut.. You should love your husband for who he is not for what he looks like.

I would guess that it's not really his appearance that turns you off.....usually, people are attracted to those they love and respect, especially women.

I would recommend discovering the block in your relationship, perhaps some underlying bitterness?

I don't understand, if you love him what does his looks have to do with anything? I am sure your looks probably changed over the years too, if not then that's good for you. I just don't think you love him anymore and the sight of him makes you sick. I feel so bad for your husband and hope he finds someone who truly cares about him and he can spend the rest of his life with while you sit alone.

how do you know hes not thinking the same about u? ur 40+ yrs old now.. looks are a thing of the past, ur old get used to it
