If you can do the paper work by yourselves then it will be less than 250.00 as long as you both agree on everything. If you need a lawyer due to the fact that you can't agree on child care or custody it could run in to several thousand dollars. Mine was 3500.00 |

If you both agree to it its called an uncontested divorce. Uncontested divorces are much easier and cheaper than contested. However in the state of NY, they require a 1 year legal separation before you can file a no fault divorce. Once the year has passed the court will allow you to file. You'll serve your spouse papers, you both will sign them and file them through the court. Then you'll receive a final divorce decree by mail, at that time you will be legally divorced. |
