Ok,I know,strange question but I am 28 now and got married when i was 16.It lasted like a year and I havent heard from him since,lol.I met the love of my life now and I want t6o marry him.I heard he could have divorced me.I hope so...but where can I go online or in person to check?Thanks so much...and all you teens in love,THINK ABOUT IT BEFORE YOU SAY I DO!!lol

Your very last statement is OH SO TRUE, but we know you can't tell ANYONE!! YES, you CAN find out if you're divorced or not as I DID. I called the county court house where I tho't my "ex" was residing. Fortunately, I lucked on that. I just asked for "records", gave them my name, & they looked it up to inform me I had been divorced 6 yrs. prior & NEVER KNEW!!! I then asked for a copy with a "raised seal" which make it the "original" document. I sent them a ck. for $10, they in turned mailed it rite out to me, no problem, no questions asked as this is ALL public knowledge. A person can advertise in a local paper in the area of where they feel their spouse may read it in the personal ads. IF no one responds w/in 30 days, a divorce can be legally issued. My divorce papers stated "breakdown of marriage". He had 2 attys. for brothers, so I KNOW they assisted him w/it. But, try to find out where you feel he may be residing, & just a simple phone call w/suffice. Make sure you do get a "raised seal" copy tho. Good luck to you...:) |

You need to go to the nearest courthouse and see if they can help you. They should be able to look it up. But if you didnt sign any divorce papers I think u might still be married. UNLESS he out a announcement in the paper like I had to with my ex and it would be uncontested. Just go to your nearest courthouse and they should be able to help you. Good luck! |

From what I understand, when divorce papers are filed, you are notified. They need your signatures to seal the deal.
Go to the place you were married or county you filed your marriage license in. See if there are divorce papers or if they the former marriage license is still valid. Tell them what has happened and ask them what to do.
By the by.....didn't you wonder where your former husband went? Or if he is still alive? |

you need to check at the courthouse yo registered your marriage at. Chances are that if you are not sure that you are still married you are he has to notify you or make a reasonable attempt to contact you. that means that if does not know where you live then he has to take out ads in every paper in the towns that you could possibly be in. (very expensive) |
