How long does a divorce take?

my boyfriend had been married for 14 years, but not through church. how long would it take for them to be divorced completely. they both agree on it.

Are you in US or UK? I am in the UK and mine took 6 months from filing to it being definite (and that was with children involved - they say it takes longer if kids are involved).

In the Dominican Republic we carry out a divorce called Special or Quick Divorce for Foreigners. This type of divorce is specially for spouses that consent on getting divorce, must have a minimun of two years of marriage and must be foreigners. It seems your boyfriend qualifies for this type of divorce.

Is obtained in a brief period of time once you provide the documents such as the separation agreement and marriage certificate. Only one of the spouses must be present at the hearing.

you can print the papers on line in most states...then you both sign and file them with your local courts...it should not take more than two weeks for it to be filed with the courts.
