ive been with my bf for a year. i am completely i love with him and want to spend my life with him... he has told me that he never wants to get married but he has also said he does wen he had a serious conversation about it. but i do one day. i just dont want to wait 10 years. i dont want to get married in a year or 2 either so i'm not pressuring him but wat do u think is a decent amount of time to wait if i would wait for him to come around?

Why get engaged if its going to be a long engagement, thats ridiculous. Thats just like dating for a long time, although marriage is a piece of paper, it does have a stronger idea of commitment in people's minds then most think. If you are going to have this conversation, it should be a lets get engaged and get married by XXXX year, not lets just get engaged and wait and see if it works out lol |

If you want to be a married person, then find someone who wants to be a married person too! You ask how long should you wait for him to come around..... How much time do you have, because he will NEVER come around! He told you he didn't want to be married. What part of that did you not understand? While you stay with him, he gets what he wants & you don't, because you don't want the same things...
Pretty simple! You are allowing yourself to stay stuck in a dead end relationship... |

Why would you want a long engagement? I think you are making excuses for him to propose now. Are all of your friends getting engaged or some thing? 1 year is not enough time to put a ring on your finger. For some people it is. But you two obviously do not agree. So don't push him. He is smart to wait. He wants to test out the relationship further. A year is 12 months. Its really not that long.
He might want to wait up to 5 years and that is fine. I think if two people really are in love they don't need a big celebration and a piece of paper to prove it. True love waits. |

Your guy doesn't want the legal contract. You will have to hold on to him using love, or live without him. |

You can't make him do something he doesn't want to do. Oh yeah he may cave and marry you but you will be in a lonely marriage because he will be gone as much as possible to get away from his situation. If you want to marry that bad you need to go find someone who wants it too. This is not the guy. |
