How much do looks matter to a guy when it comes to dating a woman? I am asking because I was seriously an ugly duckling two years ago when I met my boyfriend. We just started dating. He didn't think of me romantically when we first met. He did think I was pretty but so are a lot people. He is a former jock-type thats in his mid 30s. I weighed 25 lbs more two years ago, I lost weight, got super fit and hot- I dress really attractive, have long hair and well - anyway - I have improved in my appearance overall. I have a great heart - despite all this boasting about myself just now- I do community service and have lots of great friends and I am great friend back to them. Do you think this guy likes me only because I am hot now? I really was an ugly duckling just two years ago. I want to know where his heart really is. How much do looks matter to a guy when it comes to dating a woman? How can I tell if he likes me just for my looks now? I get a lot of attention from men everywhere I go now - grocery store, intersections in my car, walking in the park (I am not a club or bar-goer so I don't know about that scene)

Men are very visual and physical driven creatures... so looks do play a very important part in the initial attraction. but looks alone don't keep a man. So he has to be there for more than looks...but you will know best. Do you all have any common interests, does he wants to get to know you.. do you feel that your relationship is going... etc..... I mean even Halle Berry has had men leave her as well as Jennifer Anstion so looks peek there attention but something else must be keeping it.. because there are a lot of beautiful women!! |

Your man found you before you were hot.... Obviously he liked you for you, not the make-up you put on or the clothes you wore. In alot of situations, the perfect people don't think of each other romantically when they first meet.
Just to sum it up in 2 hour format, watch "You've Got Mail".... It wasn't the looks that sold them at first, but the results of the interactions. |

well looks shouldn't matter as much as personality but i am sure they play a major role in it. Think of it the other way- what about a ''ugly duckling'' that turned into some hot guy? Wouldn't it be the same way?
Maybe you should confront him about it if he is your boyfriend??

Honestly it depends on the guy. A good guy won't go just for looks but personality and whats on the inside. If you have a great personality and your a wonderful person then that will show on the outside despite your appearance. If you split because he didn't think you were that attractive then I dont think hes worth it, and I think you should find someone who sees you for your true beauty inside and out. I always have looked at it this way when your 80 years old sitting in nursing home, it really won't matter anyway. |

To me it seems that you haven't got over your ugly duckling years, you sound way too insecure. Leave the past alone and live your present, time will tell if this is the guy for you, if it ain't broke, don't try to fix it. |
