monthly income: 2800
house: 715
bills: 400
kids:0
total of remaining money at the end of the month=-0
how much should we save? plz help me.

well after the bills and stuff you have about 1685 left over i suggest u save half so u can have money for gas and food and other things and the rest u save is 842.50 but if u 2 come together and think about things u dont really spend much money on ya'll could save more that 842.5 if u want to |

I think you should start putting about 200 every month into a savings account, or something that will pay with higher interest. I don't know much about this because my husband handles all our finances, but $220/month is $2400 in a year, and if the interest is compounded, you will have more. You will easily have over $25,000 in 10 years at that rate, and even more if you put in more than $200.
Put the rest of your savings (maybe another $200/month) in another account (meaning, don't put all your eggs in one basket) like a mutual fund, rothIRA or something of the sort.

The best situation is a savings automatic deduction, with your employer kicking in. 10% of your gross, if possible. If the above is not available, then pay yourself 10%, as if it was another bill....into your private savings account. That would leave apx $1400. Is that feasible? Once you had a savings growing, you'd be able to tap into it, for an emergency. Keep in mind interest rates stink at the moment. |

First off you should save 10% of your monthly income (as in pay yourself before you pay anyone else) Then pay the bills. Whatever you have left over should be used for things that are needed or unexpected things that come up. |
