We separated over a month ago. I am in counseling, but I still cry a lot. There is no chance of getting back together. He is cruel and cold (and has been cheating with another woman for months). I am spending time with friends, but we were married for 12 years, and I am struggling. Thanks...

Time heals everything.
It is going to vary from person to person as to how long it will take you to feel normal again but I can promise you that you will. I divorced two years ago from a cheating husband with a pregnant girlfriend. i *began* feeling normal again about 4 months after the initial separation, and completely found a new me & was once again in love with life about three months after that. I had my days here and there where I wanted to break down, but those have since stopped too. It will be 2 years on May 1, and I have never been happier. :)
Just take this time for yourself, do things to keep you active and your mind off of it. Pray to God, he brought you to it, he will get you through it.

u know i struggled too, cried my eyes out. my ex was more than cruel to me, said things that led me to see that he never loved me at all. there is no time limit u can put on grief, but accepting it is your first step. the sooner u get a divorce the better u will feel. i would also consider joining a divorce recovery group where u would meet others who have already gone through this, and will be supportive of u. yes it always happens right under our noses, and its really hard to accept the fact that the man u Love was even capable of doing such a thing, but he was, and the facts are what they are. it is something that would be hard to cope with by yourself. u just have to give it some time, and u could do some volunteer work, go visit someone in a nursing home, when u help others who are less fortunate than u, it kind of takes your mind off your own troubles. and god doesn't close one door without opening another. these things do happen, and don't even try to figure it out, because u won't be able to. |
