How would you react to a 20-something who said your finace is too young?

an aquaintance, who is 29 years old, said that my fiance (27) is not mature enough to be with me (34). He has spent 6 years in the US Navy on a submarine, moved a few times around the country, and is now ready (very ready) to settle down and have a family. He has never been married and has no children of his own, he grew up in a small farm town. He's just been wonderful to me and my kids. I have 3 children and I am widowed.

I am rather irritated by her statement as she is still living with her parents and buys a lot of cartoon and fairy figurines.

I told her " I suppose immaturity is in the eye of the beholder." what I really wanted to say was: "Jealous?"

He has traveled the world, held a responsible position in the military for 6 years and most importantly " He's just been wonderful to me and my kids." Does she know him as well as you? Nope. Does she have anyone in her life that cares for her the way he does for you and your children? I highly doubt it. Is she independent (live on her own) and self sufficient, responsible or as well traveled as he is? No way. Yep she is JEALOUS. She wishes she had a guy like you do who loves you the way he does and is as mature as he is.

27 is a fully grown mature male.

That is what is wrong with young people today. No one wants to grow the *** up.

By 27, my sons were already 5 & 7, and I had been on my own without mommy and daddy for about 9 years.
